Started tiny houses section, need your help

Postby mikeschn » Mon Nov 10, 2008 6:17 pm

Okay, there's enough interest in tiny houses on wheels... So I created the section. Now you guys gotta help...

Let's go out on the web and collect some information and pictures, and post them here...

Oh, the tiny house doesn't have to have wheels, but it would be good to find designs that lend themselves well to being build on a trailer.

So bring on the links and the pictures!

I've done a lot of web searches on these and this is one of my favorites:

http://preview.tinyurl.com/6asf8g

Make sure you click on the part that says "click here to see photos" because there is a slide show.

They aren't mobile but they are awesome!

I realize that these two references were not exactly what you intended for this thread, but here is an interesting one
that was seen at the 2007 SLO event that members from this board participated in.
I don't think anyone stopped to talk to the owner of this one to get a tour inside. I tried, but no one was home at the time.

Thanks Mike! This is cool.

Cliff- You're in a whole different category. That's a housetruck - which has an entire following to itself.

I designed my idea of a tiny house. Posted else where, but it fits here now...

It would take a large truck to move this around. I don't have one and don't plan on building a tiny house soon. But dreaming is free and fun.

Tiny houses I have built. Well mini barns anyway.

Image

The gambrel truss was used on the farm for 100's of years. The large volumn of space offer by this design allowed for storage for hay and other grain stocks. The small footprint of a tiny house could use loft space also so why not get all the headroom you can by reusing this age tested idea.

The single sweetest mini barn I ever had the pleasure of building !

At 15' x 25' this 375 sq foot studio would make an excellent little home.
The 10' front wall and 7' backwall combined with the offset gable trusses offer a wide open feeling inside. With 7 windows the inside is bright and cheery. The full operational double door allows for oversize items to be easily moved in or out. The addition of a large wrap around covered deck and this would be a sweet little bungalow.

The shedworkers site from England shows that a small space can be useful as well as very nice looking. (It was mentioned earlier in this thread).

http://www.shedworking.co.uk/

There is a lot that can be done in a small space. The problem for me, at least, is all of those books that I am sure I cannot live without.

Microfiche once sounded like a good idea!

Not exactly tiny, but the singles are definitely mobile with a big enough truck:

Doesn't necessarily fit the category, just thought they were a pretty cool idea!

This seems to be a real trend lately. Love the one in Rodondo Beach!
