space saving furniture

Lets talk tiny houses, tumbleweeds etc on wheels

I have seen this little drying rack several times before on the net but finally today the little light went off in my head. :o

This fixture could be sized in such a way that it will match the tiny house window sizes and appear to be grill work for the window. Perhaps some fancy scollups in the outer frame and nice dowel work would make it appear gingerbread for the window, until lowered and utilized for it's real purpose , as a drying rack.

Would you position this over the bath tub so you would have a place for the water to go?

I would say it depends on how well you can spin or wring out the clothes. My dryer died a month ago and while I have a clothes line outside I am not into freeze dried clothes. So I simply string a clothes line thru the house on laundry day and hang them up.
No runs no drips no errors. I

I could see dressing up some or all the windows with these grills so you could get laundry day over with all at once. On a sunny winter day they should dry the clothes quickly and you would have a humidifier for the tiny house to boot.

My drier died over a year ago, but I couldn't justify buying a new apartment stack when the washer still works, so I put a shower curtain rod right over the tub to hang clothes on (along with the original over the rim of the tub for the actual shower curtain). In the cold months clothes get hung in the bathroom, during the summer they hang outside on the line.

But I like the idea of a drying rack over the kitchen sink, for the kitchen towels and perhaps even for herbs.

Have you ever seen a kitchen drying cabinet? I'm not sure of an official name, but I think it is much more common in Northern Europe than other places. My grandmother had one (my engineer grandfather thought it was a great idea and installed it). Oh, wait, I just found it called an astiankuivauskaappi - a Finnish dish-drying cabinet.

Can't remember where but somewhere I saw a lady who had a small apartment and wanted a tub.
She put it under a bench at the dining table. Had padded chair bottom and back with no legs that she sat on the bench or floor.
