Nice work. This is a great thread. Are you planning to live full time in the tiny house, or is this a vacation type home?

Full time living for us. We've been in a camper since last winter so the adjustmemt has already been made. In fact we'll gain room in the tiny house. The best part is that we've built without borrowing $ and are looking forward to the freedom of a mortgage free life.

I spent the day working on the ceiling. We chose the thin cedar vjoint that they sell at lowes. It went up fairly easy and I lucked out not having to rip a piece at the top. I screwed 2x3s to the metal straps I used for collar ties and ripped some 1x pine boards to fit the top. I didn't get a pic of that but will post more in a couple of days.
Thanks for reading.

Hi, Sabatical. I, too, am enjoying your build. I like that you built steps instead of using a ladder. I would think steps would be much safer; and, it's a good idea to use the back/underside for storing things that you want available but out of sight, as you are planning.

The ceiling vjoint install is finished. After some sanding it'll get covered with boiled linseed oil.

I've been working on the kitchen for the last couple of days...totally winging it too. As with most aspects of this project I had a rough idea what I wanted to do and went where it took me.

I love the ceiling and oiling it is a real smart way to make it pop and still let the wood breath.

Looks like you are making great strides daily. Ain't it fun ?

Thanks bobhenry. Yes fun similar to working at a job you enjoy. I am looking forward to completion and getting back to mundane things.

The last couple houses haven't been 100% complete but there was room to work around things and enough room to overlook things. I'm thinking a 260 sf home is gonna be harder to work on after we're in it. My hope is for doneness. I don't want it to end up being like the shower drywall job left unfinished for two years. Looking at it daily was difficult but other things became more important.

Things are rolling along pretty smoothly the last week or so. We've gotten the linseed oil on the ceiling although a second coat would be good. Trim is pretty well complete as of this evening. Wife is busy painting everything. Another couple days work and we'll be ready to put flooring down. WooHoo!

Am enjoying your build a good deal. You've got great storage in the loft, nice size & excellent placement. Other details like the small shelves in the kitchen are ones you will very much appreciate. Great job.
