A new museum addition....

Postby doug hodder » Sat Sep 01, 2012 11:56 pm

Major thanks go to Dave A for this donation to the museum. It's a military medical/surgical stove. Dave may not say a lot, but he listens and he had heard me mention that I didn't have one of these yet a couple of camp outs ago.

I used a larger knob on one of the valves and it broke loose, reset the check valve in it that was loose, and some oil on the leather and it's a runner. The stainless top is nearly flawless, just missing the wind wings. I'll do some TLC clean up on it, but no serious restore efforts are required. Thanks mucho Dave...I love it and it's a major addition to the military wing of the museum! It'll be great to do those teardrop surgeries at campouts that are so often called for, or heat dishwater! Doug

Nice stove. The one I got has the wind wings and the fuel filler is on the end of the tank. I have yet to figure out how to date the things.

According to the info from those in the know on the Coleman site...this stove is mid 70's. It's an APC, not a Coleman. That medical kit you have is really cool Debbie. What I need to find is a surgical instrument set...then a book...surgery for dummies! Might be a way to cut some of the upcoming medical costs....jus' saying.... Doug

I can bring the stove, a 530 pocket stove and a Mil Spec lantern or 2. Then we can have some M.A.S.H. Martinis

:D :wine:

Yes they do....and I'd think that any of the "lady" teardroppers on this forum would make a wonderful Hot Lips....however...either of these ladies already have the lipstick!

I can't shave it off now. When I get it just right people call me Jerry Garcia.

In July when I went to the Utah regional burn I heard that time and time again.
