Vintage Coleman and other stuff....

Lanterns, stoves, etc... anything old!

Postby halfdome, Danny » Wed Dec 10, 2008 9:02 am

Jeremy, thanks for the information. It sounds like it has better parts. The "professional" tag must have been for advertising purposes, I guess. I thought it may have been marketed for rail road workers or something of a professional nature, who knows. I picked up the one in the center photo. It has issues on the back but is smaller than my other lantern and should pack better for camping in the TD. I'll see what it looks like when it arrives. :) Danny

Danny, FYI, the valve is 180 degrees off on that lantern. The sunshine logo shold be in the back. The decal should be be below the valve and the pump should be on the right. you can get replacement decals from Fred Kuntz. The liknk to his catalog is in Dug's sticky posting.

Jeremy it looked backwards, unless your a south paw. There's a failed repair on the other side and a sticker should help cover it up  . It doesn't need to look perfectly correct just nice. It just looked like it could work out quite well for camping instead of sitting on someones shelf collecting dust. :D Danny

s & h green stamps

Postby John T. Hodgen » Wed Dec 10, 2008 11:37 am

Hey Everyone,
I have to say that everyone has great examples of our past. I've even looked up old stoves, etc. on e-bay and found some neat stuff  to bad I don't have any money :( . Anyway way back :) in the 60's the gas stations handed out S&H Green Stamps with purchase of gas. My family bought me a little two-man Army cloth pup tent for, I think, for 2 1/2 or 3 books of stamps. It had the 2-piece wooden poles. I remember using that tent til it was totally worn out. Back yard nights and in the woods with friends. Wish that I had pixs from those time but the ones that I have are in my Head-lol. Anyone else remember those?

Oh yeah, I remember those army surplus shelter half's. My friend and I camped out many a time using only army surplus gear, Canvas shelter half's, steel mess kits, etc. Heavy as #@%*, but sure was a lot of fun :ilovecamp:

Jeremy, the one and only. Just happened to be at the PC in the last minutes and went for it. I hope I won't be disappointed since there weren't too many photos. Did a search on the mentioned restorers and came up empty. A Coleman sticker just may cover up that area if it bothers me. Danny

Jeremy or anyone. Are Mica globes or sides still available anywhere or is that as rare as some of the lamps that used them originally?

In neighboring Sweden there is a gentleman that has a Coleman 200 Made in Canada year 69. Is this a good Lantern by chance?

Is this a rare lamp there in Nort America?

Here it is rare as is everything else in Coleman.

Here is a photo of it. He,s asking 38 Euro for it. It aint a real bad price.
Would any of you get it?

That seems like a fair price for the condition.

Its not one of the oldest by no means but it appears in very nice condition.
The owner is sending more photos of it to me.

Finn, I just ordered a mica globe for my Quiklight and one for a 242B just for grins. They are available with the sliding doors on the larger globes. I'll let you know how they look when I get them. Doug

Just for grins :) :) Ok. Id really like to find a decent quicklite to tinker with here in the Frozen Tundra.. 8) The wife has a nice polishing machine and disc except she says she wont let me use her disc though. But it does a super job.
