Looks good brewing a pot of coffee. It's the "work horse" of the Coleman line.

Is this stove ID'ed. It almost looks like it could be a 500B.

I'm thinking about a stove like that Mark for waffles only! Make up a frame to support the waffle iron, and not have to worry about throwing heat out into the body of the stove like on a 2 burner. A ring of aluminum would work well, do you know how long you can run that stove full tilt? Fuel supply and pressure is necessary when cooking waffles for a number of people. Doug

Here's where I am with the restoration of the mid 20's Handy Chef. It needs a new generator, but I got it bead blasted thanks to Mike A for the use of his cabinet, polished the tank and other parts, and got it in primer. Haven't worked out the paint job on it, but I'm sure I'll use some mint green just to bug Rich! Doug

Mark, mine looks a little older than yours, my gas tube is cast not pressed like yours. Underneath I seem to have a bent wire, it doesn't move.... supposed to be some sort of valve??????

Doug... How did you clean up the burners and the pipes? They allways seem to look the worst after you use it, but yours look brand new.....

They use to sell a metal covering for that one for a heater. It would clamp on and I think it had a bail handle too. We use to use mine in my brothers very drafty 56 Chevy pick up. It would get real hot at times. The things we did when we were younger  . Danny

John...typically on a stove, you turn that valve up to light it and crack the fuel knob about 1/4 turn and light it, listen and you can hear when the fuel hits the burner....after a while, then move it into the down position. The generator or tube that it fits into, needs to heat up to help atomize the fuel for the burner. If it flares up with a bright yellow flame, it's flooded and not atomizing the fuel well enough....at least that's what I had always heard, but that's for the larger 2 burners. I'd imagine it's the same thing for the single burner. But then I haven't owned one of those and I'm still learning all of this stuff between the different models and lanterns.

Check the instructions that appear to be stamped in the flame base. As for the appearance of the tubing etc.....I've taken them apart and cleaned/polished up the parts. They won't look that good after they have been burned for any time. Some of my stuff doesn't work when I get it, so take it all apart and pretty it up and repair it. Doug
