Here is one more...

I decided to go back & get the 242 I saw yesterday. It is a 242C. Date code 7 & 9. It is rough. It's a leaner. The vent is bent and the fount/valve is bent.
Image
I bought it for the globe.
Image
It also has a different pump than the other 242C I bought.

You say that like its the last one! NOT!!

Looks like a keeper to me! I know I would have brought it home. Those rough pieces are just begging to be customized for special purposes!

Here's my "one more". I helped Steve E do some paint on his Scotty bebuild and he gifted me this 502 single burner with storage canister, as well as a 413G parts stove. Birthday 12/64. Thanks a lot Steve! Doug

Looks like that one was made/modified to handle a rather large skillet??

Yup...one is bent, but they have a hook on 1 side that grabbed the burner grate and the other side slipped under the grate with a little foot that just pushed up under the grate. Hopefully I can make it all work. It was bead blasted today and there was a ton of rust and pitting on it all, not a real pretty resto on it, but it's a gift and I am willing to do the work on it all. It only needs a cap gasket, so far. Looks like someone stored it in a pan of water. I'll post the pics on the paint strip and repaint and other parts clean up for you John. Doug

Here's my "one more" finished. I use stripper on the small tanks that have embossed copy on them. Keeps you from sanding into the info and it needs to be cleaned out so that a new paint job will be readable. This one was a real rust bucket, but holds pressure and works fine now. 1964 502 single burner. Doug

What's a fair price on a 242C in that condition?

I paid $10. I mainly bought it for the original globe.

This lantern was in pretty bad shape. The tank is very pitted, the frame has heavy rust and the vent is crooked. This will be a user. That being said, I cleaned up the inner workings and it run great. I do need to get a globe for it. I put the original globe on my other 242. While in the process of taking the globe off the other 242, I broke it. It was just a newer replacement globe so it is not a huge loss.
