Question about a Coleman 242C lantern.

Lanterns, stoves, etc... anything old!

Texas Teardrop,
The 200 and the 242 are both single mantle.
I'm curious to know if your burner frame has two legs, one on each side of the generator tube... Or if it only has one leg, off to the side of the generator tube.
My hunch is that somebody wanted to trick out a 200 and put the nickel fount on it and gave you the 242 with a 200 fount.
It doesn't make sense to me for your lantern to have a 242 colar and a 200 burner frame.
BTW- I'd take a 242 over a 200 anyday and you can on occasion find just the nickel fount for a 242 on Ebay... If that is the case. (You have a 242 with a 200 fount)

Thanks for all the help, guys!
I'm not a purist on this one.. Guess I'll use Doug's suggetion and go with the hunter green or paint the bottom with a Texas flag to match the outside of my Teardrop.. gotta do a little thinking on this one

Dean, it has the 2 legs..
It's just going to be a lot of fun deciding what to do with it... It's certainly not going to be original... Just a good user.
I'll just keep looking around for an original one that's in really good shape.

Since it is a morphed lantern and someone has taken it apart....pressure it up, see if it holds overnight...if it doesn't, check all fittings. Just an idea. Have fun with it and enjoy! Doug

I like how the 242 burns better than the 200A. The 242 is also a little brighter.

When I get it all cleaned up and painted I'll see how it work..
I see you're from Everett... My son, daughter-in-law and grandson live in Granite Falls.. I lived all my life in Olympia and moved to Texas nearly 4 years ago... I sure don't miss all your rain... :)

Born & raised here so rain does not bother me. As they say, Washingtonian's don't tan, they rust...
