Dad's Lanterns

Postby mjg444 » Mon Feb 02, 2009 12:32 am

All this talk of old lanterns made me go look in my Dad's garage. I found three. The first one below is the first thing he bought for hunting in 1948. It says 220D and B 48 on the bottom.

The next one is one he bought later. It is a 228F with 8 66 on the bottom.

And this one - doesn't know where he got it - probably a garage sale or something. It's says JC Higgins and it was made by Sears. But he's had it a long time. It's unusual.

I don't know if they work - but I would imagine with some cleaning and checking of seals they would, because they worked when he put them away last time - I didn't have time to check them out.

Also found a couple stoves - see next post.

Looks like the JC Higgens lantern is quite rare. I suppose that is like a ceiling lantern?

Never saw one like that before.....
