Ended up buying some more crap from Ebay... a bunch of fonts and parts for coleman 335 lanterns, don't know if I can restore one from them, and a couple of campstoves..a 425c, and an old 1950's with a gold tank. All come from Ontario so shippping is cheap. If my wife finds out I'm in a real big doghouse...... Can you say Eunich???? Enough allready....

My biggest bitch is when they tell me shipping and handling is like $25.00, and when the package finally arrives, the postage is only a couple of bucks..... what a rip off.... the envelope didn't cost $23.00.... they are just getting more money for their item...gotta be a law against that...

Sorry John....I'm thousands of miles away, and even my "virtual" arm can't reach out to twist yours physically...for me....I'm sitting and waiting on a 1940 Coleman 417B that I bought 1/2/09, not that far away....no communication till the last 2 days...says it's on it's way....As far as your "better half" you're on your own...look at it this way. I sent you a check for the out of control shop a couple of years ago...50$...it's your play money!!! Unfortunately, didn't last long huh? For me...I don't bid on anything with out of control shipping or out of the country...at least the US...I'm waiting on a 10$ stove with 18$ shipping on it. Doug

Shipping is the killer.... I emailed one guy and ask for the cost of shipping and he said $10.00... when I got the package, the postage came to something like a $1.70.....What's up with that????

After a second glance...thanks John....I don't think that even Ira had a specific post that razzed him like that! I'm honored! Doug

I am so glad I didn't look directly at the highly polished, bright shiny, mesmerizing Coleman Charm of Alacrity like John did. Although I was enticed to purchase a Wal-mart $4.88 oil lamp for the Superbowl burn-off. (Thanks Doug for the follow-up PM) I just couldn't help it, it was like I had been hypnotized. :?

Sellers do this to get around ebay fees, ie sell it for a lower price (and lower ebay listing fee) and jack up the shipping...........

I pass on these kind of sellers, there are others selling the same things for "actual postage" sometimes you just have to wait for them to list.....

I have pretty much written of purchasing anything on ebay anymore. I too got fed up with the postage issues and have put the extra effort into finding local places with the same stuff or going right to he source company.
Ebay becomes addictive just like teardrops, but the reward is greater. Now if I was an educated buyer like Doug and a few others, maybe I wouldn't mind

Well, I just found an Ebay seller that lives about 3/4 hour from me.I bought lantern parts and a stove from him and went over and paid cash. No exchangs rate, no shipping...all's good. While I was there we talked about my 200 lantern, and he comes out with a PERFECT ventilator for it!!!
And he said if I ever need any parts, just give him a call....Bye bye Ebay!!

"he said if I ever need any parts, just give him a call..." said the spider to the fly. be careful these guys try to provide a gateway to the real hardcore stuff, nickel & solid brass. Beware!

Well, I fell off the wagon again......Dang! I got no willpower!!! Bid on a bunch of knobs for coleman stoves...$.99...got them. Then he was selling more parts for 335 lanterns, bid on those.....got them. When I went to pick them up, he says " You want this 200 to fix up? Oh and you want the globe? $20.00"......Yeah, O.K. "I got another 4m, I'll give it to you for $8.00.".............." you won't find parts for yours in the future." SUCKERPUNCHED!!! O.K. I'll take that too......Total=$60.00. Now I got enough to keep me busy until May. Oh, the 200? That turned out to be my new mint green lantern. Maybe I'll post pics tomorrow....

:? :) :D
