Got a 502

Postby doitright » Thu Feb 12, 2009 8:08 pm

I got a 502 today. At the end of the day went to a friends house for a visit. On my way home he gave me a 502. It is dirty with a little rust but it works fine even with about 20 years of dust on it. I will paint it red to match my camper. I will have to change out the fill gasket and pump gasket. When done I will post photos. I am sure all know what a dirty 502 looks like. Now if I can find a 500 and a big top lantern. And the time to rework all the stuff I have. Spring is at hand and my camper needs a polish.

That's what is fun on some of this stuff...like tears and TTT, there are no rules and regs about how you choose to do one up. Paint them to suit your needs...makes ya different! Doug

That's all. I only hope that a 500 A will be as cheep. Though you may have been talking of the fit I had over a rear door that is not a true Scotty I posted about in General Forum. I try to be a purist with my camper but other stuff not so bad. I do have some red spray paint but my green is all gone.

Kevin...you read me all wrong on that....It had nothing to do with your Scotty discussion. I completely understand your line of thought concerning that. Doug

If you are going to use yuor stove, paint it whatever color you want. I am no purist. I have "ruined" a Coleman 502 & a 500 stove buy repainting them Sears blue. I plan on using them, I didn't buy them to sit on a shelf & look at them.

502

would you believe the funny thing is I have been looking for a 502 until you all said for waffles I need a 500A for the heat. Now I have a 502 I know it will be too small for waffles unless I have a very small iron. I have a 9" and a 8".
Doug Sorry I guess I just feel guilty about the post. It is a self problem. See the camper was first offered to me but due to $ and distance I could not get the camper. The man gave it to a good friend that has remade a couple other campers. Oh well If I would have been able to drive the 3000 miles to get it I would have a total original camper. I still need a ice box and two teardrop taillights.
rainjer I am going red and leaving the purist lifestyle behind. Your stoves rock they are far from being "ruined".
