My Coleman resto project, finished, 'cept decal

Lanterns, stoves, etc... anything old!

Postby doug hodder » Fri Mar 20, 2009 7:43 pm

It's all done but the test fire and the decal and the gold Coleman copy on the fuel tank (sprayed on). Hopefully I'll get the decal and stencil in the next week. I want to wait a while before I fuel it up. Holds pressure and the valves are all in working order. I'll wait a while before I fold it all up. thanks again Dennis, it was a challenging one to do! Doug

Once again, WOW. Look like new. I hope the test fire goes well. I would like to see it in use at the Dam Gathering.

Thanks Mark....and especially thanks for sending me the correct packing I needed for the tank valve. I'd be jury rigged without it. I'm sure I'll get antsy and fire it up this weekend...go back and buy up all that guys packings! Doug

I've been trying to buy both of the boxes off of the guy but he's not budging..Don't worry I am definitely going to get the rest of those packings for sure! I pick through and buy a bag full of parts every time I get over that way.

Yeah like my auto cook kit, my AGM kampkook (both of them) and I think they will fit the small valve stem on my coleman lamps...etc. I don't know how many are left in that size probably not that many. They are only $.59 each so I will clean it out.

I had the easy part, spend $7, pick up a cardboard box of rusty stuff and send it off to someone with the magic touch. It looks fantastic. You done good.

I built a fire in it today....something on the top of the #2 burner caused the paint to pop, I'll have to redo it...I didn't really blast that one as hard as I should have...kinda looked like a powder coating on it. It didn't fire up quite as easily as the new stoves, flooded it, but once I got the right combination on the knobs it worked fine. Puts out a ton of heat! With the burners attached to the fuel tank type stoves, I don't fire them up while in the box, in case it dumps fuel all over the place on the paint. Doug
