Not exactly a camping item, but i picked this up and the lady told me that miners used it to keep their lunch hot when they went into the mines, but i have done some searching and never seen another one. its made by Landers, Frary & Clark, and the patent date is Mar 19, 1917. anyone that knows anything more, I'd appreciate the info.

What a neat find! I don't have one of those, it's an deluxe model. Some of the older ones were pretty funky and basic, the miner that had yours was probably the big wheel. I have a mining locker room basket. They were suspended from the ceiling on pulleys with a basket for personal items and some coat hooks hanging underneath. Do you have a patent number on it, it can be searched for more info. Doug

Thanks Doug! doesnt have a patent # on it. I posted a message on another antique forum and they said it was called a "dinner bucket" and from the color, it was from around 1930. Im just happy to have it around. Its a conversation piece.

I'm partial to that color.....gotta find one of those, perfect for storing some camping stuff in! Nice juke box unit in the far right of the pic. I've got one of those also, fun to have out of the ordinary stuff around. I'm living in the wrong era! Doug

Me too. I re-did the basement and put in a 1950-60's type malt shop instead of the usual liquor bar. Gotta be different i guess! Got everything in it at rummages! Season is almost ready to begin! Ya never know whats waiting for you at the next one!

I happen to be a personal friend of Steve and I can say he did an awesome job turning a dark basement into a beautiful malt shop atmosphere complete with all the antiques and even the music. He lives and breathes garage sales!!
(So, do I get a free malt for saying that?)

Here's a couple of pictures, not the best, but it gives the idea! Everything you see, except the stools, was bought at rummage sales! The fountain service sign I made. Malts are on me!

Thanks all! believe it or not, thats all in a 8x10 corner of the basement. if it was up to me, i'd do the whole basement and have booths, jukebox and a pinball machine, but the wife had other plans......
ready for the rummage season tho, still need a couple pieces to complete it!

Good thing Doug does not have a basement. There is too much there for him to put in a teardrop but then again he might try that too.
