.67 cent lanterns....got the 220 done.

Steve E came by the store yesterday and gave me these 3 lanterns that he scrounged at a local flea market..total price 2$ for the works. I'll probably build the red one...a 200A as I don't have one, the others are parts lanterns. The vents are hammered on the green ones, just can't see it all, 1 has a bent frame and at least 1 tank has a dent in it. Great for parts and you can't beat the price. Thanks Steve I really appreciate them!

He also scored a wonderful green Sears stove for 3$. He did a little clean up on it and it looked like a million bucks! Decal was like new on it. Just needs to have the generator gone through. Great find Steve!

Hey everyone...lots of this stuff is available for almost next to nothing. Happy hunting! and Thanks Steve! Doug

And the after, only needed a generator, some clean up and paint. Such a deal for .67 cents. My first 200A. Doug

Thanks everyone....fired it up tonight...boy, the red vents really turn a dark burgundy when they are up to temp. Go back to normal color when cool.
The other 2 green ones will become "Frankenlanterns"....parts will be used to create lanterns, but won't be exactly number matching or correct for the vintage. The biggest thing....find great ventilators...that's the tough part! Doug

Steve...here's your lantern! After checking it out, it appeared that this 1964 could be salvaged and wouldn't be just a parts lantern. It's the left lantern in the above pic of the befores. There was a fair amount crud in the tank and rust on the exterior, and someone had stepped on the cage and vent. Both were bent up. I robbed the vent and globe from the 74 he gave me and straightened out the cage as best I could. I probably should have cleaned off the dust prior to the pic. We'll see if it fires up. Just need some time on the paint before I fuel it up. I expect to see you dragging it to the gatherings! Doug

In the words of Homer Simpson "DOH!!!" I get it all together and find that there is too much rust on the fuel filler neck threads, thought I got it with the stainless brush. I can't get a cap to seal without some channel locks on it. Damn...got it all painted and bondo'd too! I'll take it down to Mikes tomorrow and GOD FORBID "bead blast" it to clean them up so it will seal and do a repaint on it. The cap hangs up about half way, tried to pick it all out with a stainless pick, but to no avail. Oh well, gives me a chance to hang out with Mike/ Nancy and Buddy for a while and ogle his 40 Ford Pickup. Doug
