AGM one lunger for crab boil...

Not a Coleman 500, but a pretty cool JiffyKook. I'm hoping it will have enough umphh to do a reasonable crab boil...

Cool Dave!!!! Have you fired it up? I'd love to see the flames in that burner. Should be a good crab cooker or fish fryer! Looks to be in great condition. How big is the dimension across the grate? Great pic...shows the reflection on the back of the tear....nice job! Doug

The grate is cast iron and 8 inches across...I think it's a little small for a tall pot of boiling water... so I think I might need to build a stand for the pot to sit on and the stove to be underneath.

That's kinda what I did with my 500, built a grate that can bolt onto the original frame with turned up edges to hold the large skillet and the waffle iron. Got a date on it? I'd love to have something like that! Doug

I bought it off ebay...I've been looking for a Coleman 500 since Jeremy and Doug made the plates/grates to set the waffle irons on. I couldn't resist this AGM when it came up and figured it might be hefty enough for some serious crab boiling!!!! I paid a little more than a nice 500 would have cost, but it is different

Did someone mention crabs?

We caught over 10 dozen along the pull-offs along LA Highway 82 and also at Rockerfeller Refuge near Creole, LA.

They were delicious!

Leg meat and body meat John and if you're real hardcore you can eat part of the innards... The yellow fat (Mush) under the back, called crab butter.
