Coleman age (?)

Lanterns, stoves, etc... anything old!

Coleman age (?)

Postby FireLion » Wed Jun 10, 2009 5:35 pm

At a garage sale today I asked, as I always do, if they had any old camping gear. The old fellow scratched his chin and said "yeah, I think I got an old lantern somewhere". I waited while he dug it out of an upper cabinet. Turns out it is a Coleman 220F....brand new....in the factory sealed carton.
So, I just looked disappointed (inside I was ecstatic) and said " oh, I got one just like that at home, how much ya want for it?" He hummed and hawed and finally said "5 bucks and it's yours" I said to him " I don't really need it, but....well....ok"
So now my small collection is (2) 425E stoves, (1) 220F lantern, (1) 295-700T lantern, (1) old (perfect condition) steel belted cooler, & (1) 2.5 gallon water cooler. All Coleman! I love garage sales!!!
Now, how do I figure out how old the 220F is? All the papers inside the box were printed in 1970.

Well, 220F's were made from 1964-1973. there should also be a date on the bottom of the fount. if your paperwork is dated 1970, its at least a 70 or later. Nice find! I just picked up a 1975 220H in a sealed box 2 weeks ago.

garage sales

Postby eamarquardt » Wed Jun 10, 2009 10:11 pm

I have a "lifetime supply" of Coleman lanterns all from garage sales. I typically get them for about three bucks. I got some globes for a buck each (10 bucks each at big 5). www.oldcolemanparts.com has a lot of usefull information.

Cheers,

Gus
