Kamp Kook stove

Postby Zollinger » Mon Jul 20, 2009 8:52 pm

Friday a friend stopped by to show me his $3 garage sale find. What he really wanted was to see if I could fire it up for him. I'll be darned if the thing didn't fire right up. I can't seem to find much about them. I can tell you this is kinda a neat little stove.

Dawn:
I don't know anything about them but I know my buddy Dobyman just picked one up at a yard sale too. Maybe he can give you some info.

Kamp Kooks were made by Prentiss Wabers also referred to as "Pre-Way" at times, started back in the late teens, they also made the Handy Chef marketed under the Sears Roebuck name. I've got a '27. Check out this site under the letter P in stoves for some pics of their products. Doug

Doug,

Did AGM buy out Prentiss Waber? It seems they made a Kamp Kook stove starting in the 30's. I wonder if it's the same company.

Thats a nice stove. I havent tried mine yet, so Im not too up on them. I know someone painted over mine  so I am hoping to get a real close and clear picture of the decal so I can make my own. :)

I dunno Kevin....Prentiss Wabers were made and still using the name Pre-Way till I don't know when. Would be interesting to do some research on the time line of the 2 companies. I'm totally wrong on it being a PW stove. whoops! my apologies as I can see the AGM copy on the decal. Doug

Dobyman, i'll see Ed this weekend. I will have him run home and grab the stove so I can get a good picture of the logo.
