I am quitting Coleman collecting! Maybe not.

Lanterns, stoves, etc... anything old!

I am quitting Coleman collecting! Maybe not.

Postby campmaster-k » Thu Sep 20, 2012 9:05 am

Today is a new chapter in my life. This is the chapter where I get out of the gutter. I am going to clean up and STOP collection Coleman camping stuff. I am going to apologise to my wife for always trying to sneak coleman stuff into the house. I am going to pour out all my white gas. I am going to throw a baseball with my son, and I am going to start giving him lunch money again.

I am going to breath fresh air in place of paint fumes. I am going to stop posting pictures of beautiful red headed lanterns on the internet.

I am going to stop slamming on the breaks every time I see an antique store. I am going to stop going to the fleamarket every Sunday. I am going to give the CRV to a deserving young kid who will actually play with it. I am going to work in my yard.

You sound like the typical dieter when they first commit to a diet. Only thing is, the diet usually doesn't last, they regain what they lost and usually even add on weight besides that, and at a faster rate than before. So, I predict that when the Coleman fast ends, you will not only re-aquire any items that you gave up. You are going to binge. Start clearing space in the garage now, you're going to need it.

But in the meantime, if you're in the mood to purge your life of the Coleman, I would be happy to PM you the address where you can send all your excess. You'll feel soooooo much better to get it all cleared out!!

There's a difference between a recreational user and an addict. The thing is.....you don't need every damn stupid POS lantern or stove that you see. I love to rebuild stoves, but only pick the prime ones to do. I've got a ton of stuff in the garage, most of which I didn't buy, was given to me, and it's all for parts now. I'm not going to put a lot of effort into something that is just "another" typical lantern or stove.

These guys that have incredible collections of stuff....how much of it is the same old crap only in worse shape than the other 25 he has. No point in that. Just say NO, to the same old crap! Doug

In all seriousness I have not had this much fun spending so little in my life. Hunting Coleman stuff and teardropping is awesome. I have other much more expensive hobbies but none are better.

Darn. Can I still send you that address just in case you change your mind? I have plenty of room for more Coleman.

Is there a stirring the pot smiley? If it wasn't for you and Doug's fantastic restorations, I probably wouldn't have my 200A. I still haven't gone back to get that lantern I saw at the antique mall down town.

If you think that collecting Coleman stuff is fun, wait till you try drugs. I doubt I'll ever give them up. Today I was happy to have them and I indulged myself a bit more than usual.

Cheers,

Gus

Nah just call yourself a "Functional" Coleman Collector.. You can still collect but the guilt will be gone.. And wouldn't you be smelling paint fumes anyway considering your occupation??? ..LMAO 8)

Kirk my brother on the other coast, send me a 200A first then go back to collecting ! Your wife probably thinks its better than you collecting the Honda's, more cash and more dangerous! Plus she'll know if the money starts disappearing in large amounts and no Colemans, she has to worry about cha!

You all know me to well. Ido like to stir the pot. But not just for stiring sake. I like to keep the lantern shining on camping and camping stuff. Camping made me feel good when I was alot younger. Now its making me feel good again. Just want to spread the news any way I can. Take the time to camp.
