Charles, looks like you found Pauls #2 or #4 depending on the size.

I Love Kerosene Lanterns. There not blinding, cheap to run and are a real part of camping for me.

I own Hundreds of these lanterns. (its an "Old Guy Collecting thing") Or... I took that "Y2K" thing a bit to seriously!

Just a suggestion....I Never burn Kerosene in a Kerosene Lantern!

I burn Charcoal Fluid in all of mine. Its Brighter,Cleaner, easier to transport and acquire.

Just my experience.

Happy Trails

I never camped with anything but a kerosene lantern.Helps keep bugs away, too.I spent many happy hours reading by the light of a kerosene lamp at my grandmother's house when I was a kid.Got a big soft spot for them..never heard of burning charcoal lighter,though..may have to try that. ETA 14 1/2 inches tall not counting the pullring or bail.

Mosquitos away? What fuel? Lamp oil doesn't seem to do that :)

I think lamp oil is highly refined kerosene, part of the odor is eliminated. In my experience, skeeters don't like the smell of straight kerosene.I always used a kerosene lantern when fishing at night, just enough light to bait a hook, not so many bugs.'Course,it could be that the dim light doesn't attract them like a brighter light will.

Well have to try that :). Sadly, probably next June...as bugs are no longer a concern...

How bad is the odor for human kinds?

Some find the odor of kerosene objectionable..to me it smells like home and I like it.Burning in a lantern it's not an overpowering scent, but noticeable,if you're inside.Outside, you may not even get a whiff.

I use Tiki Bitefighter(Cedar/Citronella) fuel in mine. Seems to keep the lil buggers away.

I was on my way home Friday July 13th and tripped over a yard sale and stopped.

I am building the caboose to live in so a couple of old lanterns caught my eye. I asked the gal "how much for the lanterns" she replied "two dollars" I asked "is that for each or for both?
Her reply was "I don't care !" I gave her two dollars each anyway.

Dietz lil wizzards the brown one has the red signal glass globe in it

I was bored last week so I decided to test them out. As it turned out the brown one was missing a fuel cap so I stole the blue one's cap and fueled up with lamp oil and lit up the brown one. It ran for several hours in the kitchen without a hint of odor.
Growing older but not up !

Good score! Lehman's also has filler caps for lanterns.I spent a pleasant little while this morning going thru their website.Found an el cheapo Chinese lantern in my barn,no idea where it came from..once I got the dust off it was blue. With a wick trim it burned like a good one.
