Lantern with no mantle

Postby parnold » Tue Oct 23, 2012 10:41 am

Saw this on Ebay. If you ever wondered what would happen if you lit a lantern with no mantles, here's the answer.

Looks like a couple rocket engines!

I am cheap so I always test without mantles. Don't do it for too long because it gets hot fast, and can start to wreck stuff.

Ooooooh pretty Quicklite.

Is it being advertised as a mantle-less lantern?!

It looks pretty close to "lift off" to me.

Cheers,

I test mine like this too. After ruining several mantle on lanterns that just don't work just right.
Is it true? Is it necessary? Is it kind? Ask yourself these simple questions every time you are in doubt about any action.

If that lantern had a Mica lens with a door it would be a great cigar lighter.

Keep it lit while I run out and get me a Dunhill.
