Military Stove?

Postby ChristopherS » Tue Nov 27, 2012 8:02 pm

So I won this stove today and I am going to pick it up tomorrow. It looks like a military stove in the picture. Does anyone have one of these or has seen one.

based on the color and size and my old memory I believe that is actually a Boy Scout stove...

It's a Prentiss Wabers stove probably from the mid 30's. It was probably available with either the wire grate as shown, or a cast iron which was the deluxe model. Don't be fooled by the color on the stove...that doesn't indicate that it's a military one. That was "thee" color for a number of stove manufacturers at the time. Doug

So I got it today and it is a Preway Auto Cook Kit. The tank is shot! So I either have parts or I am hunting for a tank. I think I have parts.

Probably built in Wisconsin Rapids. Preway was pretty big there until about 1985, then went bottoms up. Remember those free standing cone shaped fireplaces. Very mod, in harvest gold, burnt orange, and of course olive green.

edit: I saw a couple of prepay camp stoves on ebay, They were going cheap but shipping will hurt.
