Scarce swap meets

Postby Mukilteo » Mon Dec 24, 2012 2:08 pm

Swap meets are rather scarce around here. It seems that craigslist has center stage now.
The folks there know what they can get and hold out.
I kinda' miss the old drive in theater swap meets, but they have all been bulldozed in and developed.
It was a fun way to spend a summer day.

Garage sales. With Craigslist and a GPS doing the routing and navigating I can hit 30-50 in a morning. You can get great bargains. A bit more work than the old drive-in meets but just as good if not better. The few swap meets that remain seem to be pretty much regular swap meet vendors rather than folks just thinning out.

This is great program (used with a GPS antenna) to use to get an optimized route: http://shop.delorme.com/OA_HTML/DELibeC ... site=10020

Cheers,

Gus

I can not go to garage sales or swap meets or... I see possibilities in way too many things and given a chance I would be a hoarder. My goal now is to get rid of 'things'!

I live in a one bedroom apartment, so I force myself to not get carried away.

I agree, most of the "flea markets" around here that used to have a lot of people doing casual sales of things they have cleared out of their barns and sheds are now mostly people trying to sell junk that they get from China, and "as seen on TV" stuff. It's really sad when you remember what they were like "back in the day..."
