So I was driving down the road today, and I thought, where do tears come from?

My wife thinks it would scare small children.

Eye Tears OT

Postby Bigwoods » Fri Oct 08, 2004 1:08 am

I work with tears everyday. The kind that are from the eye. They are really amazing and complicated too. There are watery tears when you get something in the eye to wash it out. Then there are emotional tears that are the release of the watery tear in a emotional situation.

The normal tear has several layers with an oily layer on top that "floats" to keep the water in the tear fron evaporating. Very complicated in that this little drop of moisture has to "feed" the eye, lubricate the eye, and give the eye oxygen and take way debris.

If you have a good, healthy tear you are very fortunate. It is when we get older it is a problem or if the system is disupted by putting a contact lens in the way.

Another common problem is if the eye lids do not close completey while sleeping. The area exposed is constantly drying out and hurting the cornea. Then you have to use artificial tears.

Sorry, I get carried away with eyes and tear talk. Gusee I never tought of the tear association before.

I was thinking more in the symbolic sense :) If there are so many tear drops out there.... there should be an eye :crybaby:
