I came across the Mega Drop build thread. I like his approach and
especially his use of the recycled garage door lift spring to operate the lift roof.

P.S. Why not add it to your initial post starting this thread -
in the spirit of keeping all the info/links in one place...

Thanks, Norm. I must be sleeping on the job, to miss two postings! :SH

Sharon can you add this little camper to your front page. It is not a build log just a post the couple did. Only two pic but It is cute and a clever idea.

Thanks, Terry! :D It's been added. I had not seen that one!
It looks like it may have been the forerunner to the Megadrop; so, I added it right under the Megadrop's address.

To help those who might be thinking of building a lifting roof, here is a list of all the TTT’s with lifting roofs which I (and others...Thanks!) could find.
(These camping trailers are not listed in any particular order.)

If anyone has helpful knowledge to add, such as links that I couldn’t find or other TTT’s with lifting roofs, please post your information here.

01/18/13: ...Decided to change the topic name of this thread, too, because it also lists Teardrop-shaped trailers with pop-up roofs.
So, instead of calling it "TTT's with Lifting Roofs", it is now Teardrops & Tiny Travel Trailers with Lifting Roofs.

Hi, Teri:

You've posted here; so, now, people will know where to look to see your plans. ...Good idea! Once you've gotten well into your build and have a build thread or pictures of the finished or almost finished product that I can point to, I'll add it to page 1. Thanks for bringing this to my attention!

Thanks, tsmyth. It's added. Sometimes I miss things unless somebody points them out to me. These days, I go through the postings pretty fast and don't always catch everything; so, thanks for letting me know.

Yours looks like it is going to be a nice TTT! Building a hybrid foamie, where the roof is mostly lightweight foam, appears to be among the best usage of foam to date.

The tsmyth foam top refurb project reminds me a bit of the Coal_burner build which is at this link http://www.tnttt.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=19227&hilit=coalburner. If I'm not mistaken, it is one of earliest (if not THE first) foam/fiberglass builds on this site (as well as one of the early pop ups) and contains a lot of related information on foam/fiberglass building. I really think it deserve mention in this thread, up on the top along with all the others (or is already there and I'm too blind to find it??)

Thanks for that, Wizard; however, I'm really not certain if it belongs here or not. I don't think that he ever finished it. If I remember correctly, he ended up selling it to one of our foamie builders (Was it Catherine? ) and she made it into a sort of slouchie (?), without a lifting roof. ( I'd love to hear someone else chime in here about it.) Regardless, your post has put it here; so, people will be able to find its original build thread and beginnings.

I was looking for ideas on Russian camping websites and came accross this home made "Transformer by Valentine" from Ukraine: http://www.caravaning.in.ua/forum/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=1017

Can be translated to English with Google or other online tools, it has many pictures and more with modifications made later on based on experience gained from camping. light, very compact and good usage of small space.

For a similar folding trailer, here is the ultra-lightweight Raleigh or Nutshell from the 1950/60s:
