Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

I've been too busy building to post.

My New Teardrop is almost finished; I've still got a few details to take care of. But it works!

We used it for the first time last weekend.

That's cool! Got any more pictures, of the inside, or the galley? That's a rather unique profile too...

What's that on the side, an opening or a window?

I haven't finished the galley or the interior yet, I'll post more photos as things get done. Still working things out in my head...

On the starboard side I've got the door and a screened-in opening, with two screened-in openings on the port side. No lexan yet, I'll see how claustrophobic it gets inside.

The PT handles things no problem. I can (barely) accelerate uphill in fifth gear. Gas mileage has dropped, but not by much at all. I've got no experience towing a trailer, it's all new to me. Backing up is lots of fun!

All PTs have their exhaust pipes in the same location. Any duallies are aftermarket.

You might be thinking of the MINI Cooper S. It has the exhaust coming out of the middle. The regular Cooper doesn't.

in order to fit through the top door, i'll bet you would have to be a "thin man"....good job!

I'm thinking here, that when that top window is proped open we could probably order fries!

Just created an album. Have a look and let me know what you think.

I sort of made things up as I went along. It seems that my construction’s kind of unique. Time will tell how well it holds up.

I'll post more as things progress. We're almost there with the details. Two weeks and we're off, for two weeks. Better get it right.

The trailer's basically 5' 4" wide by 10' long by 4' high. If you cut a 96" piece of ply to 64" you've got 32" left over. Two 32"s = one 64", so that's how wide it is. A queen-size mattress fits just right.

I'd heard that building the hatch could be a hassle, building it on a jig and worrying about spring back, so I built it in place and cut it free afterwards. It was a bit of a hassle, working with no access from the inside, but it all worked out OK. I hadn't thought much about sealing the gap between the hatch and body and used a couple of standard door hinges: the galley was a wet place. I've since replaced those with a continuous plastic piano hinge; now it's dry.

Since it's no longer leaking we've been busy finishing the galley. I've also installed some interior storage. Down to the details! I'll add more pics soon. I keep forgetting to stop and document things as I go.
