It is less sail like than the burly child carrier parts it replaced.
You can feel it in a strong cross wind a bit.
It slows me down some. More with an extra 35lbs of dog.
But really for errands and casual riding you almost can't tell it is there at all.

whenever I see bicycle sleeper trailers used to ride distances, I wonder why more of them don't build a design like yours only long enough to lie down in, or telescoping

What a fun project! Now I'm looking at my bike and dreaming. I guess I did it backwords, practice on a full camper, perfect a bike trailer?!

How did you figure out canvassing over curves?

I did it more or less like you would on a big teardrop. I canvased the inside and outside of the walls, then I canvassed over the top. I think the tiny tight curves I had on the bike trailer 9" radius made getting smooth curves harder. I just cut slits in the canvas from the edge to the vertical part of the wall on the top, then folded them and made little lapping triangles every couple of inches. You can still see them under the paint since I wasn't super committed to good finish work for a dog box. I'll see if I can get a picture or two tonight. I overlapped the roof pieces about 2" onto the sides. Which on the tiny curves was kind of a lot, but I was afraid scaling down the laps more than that might go poorly.

If I had been thinking and in possession of a razor blade instead of scissors the night I was working on it I probably could have cut out the little overlapping triangles and had it finish flatter.

It was a great fun little project. It actually makes me really confident in 1" foam for all sorts of uses. I am actually wondering if a person couldn't build a big foamy out of 1.5" foam instead of 2". Next time I'm stuck on the big one I'm going to work on the fabric hatch covers.

Awesome! I think it will be fine! I am sort of lamenting not having made that choice but I bought 2" foam and I am going with it.

Here are my little overlapping triangles and one with a finger for scale.
