84: Stainless Steel Micro-Airstream behind motorcycle

Postby ST1100 » Sun Mar 02, 2014 7:09 am

After the successful test ride I tested the fitting of the roof vent.

Image

Then I marked the outlining of my first corner dome on the stainless decoration ball.
A little bigger than needed - so I could cut it later precisely to the perfect fitting size.

Image

Cut it with a jigsaw out of the ball and reduced the size with my tin snips after marking the correct borders on the frame.
It seems to fit perfect !

Here the look from inside the trailer.

Then I laid this pattern onto my ball and marked outlines of three more domes on it.
After cutting it, time for the next rollout and photo session.
First look with corners clamped on.

And from the door side.

I am fully satisfied with the corner look !

Very clever corners

You are doing a fantastic job, I'm still worried about the weight but I know you are confident.

That is fantastic, I am still planning my sleeper for pulling with my R1200c trike. In the UK the weight limit for trikes is a mere 150kg.

Postby ST1100 » Sun Mar 09, 2014 5:02 pm

Only a small update today - had to cut a 22 year old 30-ft willow tree out of my garden this weekend !
Had only two hours for the trailer today in the evening.

Image

But it looks fine :-)

So what are you going to do for final finish?
Light direction sanding, polish it, media blast or paint it?

BTW. looking stellar
If it ain't broke, fix it till it is

It is looking really nice.

Do the roof top panels and corners over lap the vertical skins like shingles? In that last pic it looks like they slip behind the vertical skins. It would be better if the panels shed water rather than trap it.
