Ouch! My table saw scares me to death just because of what happened to you. A little lapse of concentration and whamo. Lucky it wasn't too bad.

P.S. Did you get any pictures.

Ouch ouch

ouchy ouch ouch

Glad you still have most of your thumb. Yeah, table saws scare me also. I took a little bite out of a finger in 2007, not enough to see anyone, just clean it up and bandage it. Routers scare me also. Belt sanders should scare more people. I got my thumb caught in mine with about a 60 grit belt on it. That hurt worse and took longer to heal than the table saw oops.

Take care.

You don't need to do any more of that to get attention

That's not a good day!

In 36 years using all sorts of machine tools; I always remembered one thing:

I doesn't think; it cuts and ir don't give a rat's ass what it's cutting

I still have 100% of all 10 digits.

No, I didn't. After I got home I thought of that...too late. I might take one when I change the bandage later today.

We all have to admire your dedication. While waiting for persciption to be filled going shopping at Home Depot.

:rofl2:

Serious note to everyone take 5 minutes and make yourself a good push stick for your table saw. I have spent some time in the E.R. waiting on stitches from a table saw too and it is not a good day.

Dale, take good care of that thumb and be careful, especially while you are healing. Sometimes the feeling in the hand that is cut doesn't come back right away. After I cut my thumb, I was working at a grill and kept burning my fingers without realizing that I was doing it. That problem lasted about a week for me.

To make things worse, my wife Sharon said I couldn’t do any more sawing today

Dale,

Take care of that thumb and the lady that cares about your well being. :O

That looks like the same fence I bought for my saw. I got mine from Grizzly, the make of my table saw. Nice rig too.

The final painting of the cabin has been put off for a while. I’ve been working on the pop top for the past two days. I want to get the top finished and fitted before painting the top of the cabin so I won’t scratch the paint putting the top in place and removing it. Once it’s finished and ready to seal and paint, I’ll paint the cabin along with the two tongue boxes and the top. I’ll put the top in place with the help of one of my neighbors…carefully. By then, I’ll have put vinyl weather stripping on the bottom edges of the top so the scratching of the paint will be practically nill.

Today, my 20 plus year old Grizzly brad nailer finally quit working. It had jammed a brad and after clearing the mechanism, the drive piece would fire one brad but not retract. I took it apart, oiled it, and put it back together several times with the same result. I guess 20 plus years is pretty good life for that tool, so I retired it and went to HD and bought their Rigid brad nailer. I didn’t know that Rigid is Home Depot’s own tool brand. I like my Rigid orbital sander, so buying Rigid again seemed OK to me. Tomorrow I’ll try it out. I still have lots of use for brads on this project and another small one.

The kid behind me asked a few days ago if I’d like to make a trade. He said he’d rake up my leaves and acorns if I’d make him a pair of speaker boxes. He wasn’t particular about what I used to make them as he planned to put industrial carpeting on outside of the boxes. So, I used some of the excess 3/4? BC plywood I have on hand. I should finish constructing them tomorrow along with the pop top. To both of us, it was a win/win barter. I hate raking leaves and he's a good yard worker. I love woodworking and he doesn't do any.

Working with only one functional thumb is a bummer, but I’m getting it done. It doesn’t hurt unless I bump it and I try not to do that.

Dale, That fence came with the table say. It is a Harbor Freight cabinet saw that they had on clearance Jan 2010. With the 20% off coupon i got it for 425$ delivered to there local store ( well 80 miles from me but that is ok, I have a pickup )

It is actually the same saw as the Grizzly 1023 and a few other brand names. And the manuals had the same mistakes in them. It is a very nice saw. I know of 3 others in the Lumberjocks forum that got the last of the lot and nobody is complaining. And the fence is a Bessemeyer clone, the same one with the Shop Fox name on it. Not the worlds best fence but pretty good for me.

Randy, my fence is a Shop Fox. I replaced the original fence around 2001. I've had the Grizzly table saw since the late 1980s or early 1990s.

I’ve been putting off the final painting of the trailer cabin until I finished constructing and painting the Pop Top. But, with rain moving in on us Monday, I decided to go ahead with the cabin painting. I put one coat of porch and deck enamel on it today and will put on the 2nd coat tomorrow. With that done, I can work under the canopy, putting in the tail and clearance lights. Then, with the wiring all done inside the walls I can install the rest of the paneling and install the light fixtures and voltage and TV outlets. Since I can’t finish painting the tongue boxes and pop top until the rain goes away, I’ll probably work inside the cabin at a slow pace and have some time to just rest and read.

I just finished putting a coat of resin on my tongue boxes, AC cover door and the pop top. I'll get a coat of primer on them tomorrow and maybe one coat of porch and deck. Then, that's all the painting I want to do until the humidity drops below 60% to 65%, whenever that happens...maybe by next weekend.

I've been letting work on the PT interfere with keeping the build site up to date. Today is rainy, so I did my computer work. I created my electrical page (finally) and brought the cabin construction page up to date. I put a link a the top of the page that will send you to the latest addition without having to scroll down.
