This is so amazing to watch. I have never built anything but shelves in my Casita closet and a few very very basic cabinets in an old house we lived in. I am so amazed at the talent on this forum, especially people like you Steve :applause: :applause: :applause:

Thanks Mike for letting Rae know what's up. She is the "Vardo Goddess"

Rae, hope you don't mind being my Gypsy Caravan muse :)

Mark,
It will be more Ledge like, since it has the narrow box at the bottom and then extends out with the wall supports. As I see it, that seems to be the main difference between the Reading and the Ledge.

And, Mandy, Mark (planovet) & Vedamen, Thanks :D

Damn, Steve. I can't even make mistakes as fast as you are building.

Your project is looking great and I'll really enjoy watching the progress.
Still graced with two eyes and ten fingers (due in no small part to luck!).

I just found this thread and it looks like you're half done already!
I always thought I might try a vardo when I have the space to build one. I'll be watching your build.

Good morning Tony & Lisa,

Thanks for stopping by. Want a cup of coffee? :coffee:

I got the fixed (non-opening) windows in. The Lexan still has the protective film on. The plan is to use some faux stained glass cling film on the insides, another Ebay purchase.

Steve, do you plan to do a website of photos for this project? I'd love to include it in my links page, if you're willing. I can't wait to see the finished project. It looks amazing as it stands.

If and when I finish I'd like to publish a photo journal of the build. Thanks for the "looks amazing"

Steve, I sure do like the looks of this Gypsy Caravan. I like the Artsy Look of the one on Rae's Web site. Will a 6 cyl pull one??

Absolutely amazing Steve!!

I saw a photo on another thread and commented that it looks like a Vardo with the walls tipped out and the round top. Now I find the real build thread and get to see the whole build. I am absolutely loving how it's turning out!

I have a fondness for the old Basque sheep herder wagons too! I wish I had a large piece of property where I could place a couple of wagons around a central fire pit and use them for "guest rooms".

I'll be watching you! :applause:

I can't believe how fast you're getting this together ... amazing. And it looks great! Will you do a clerestory roof in the standie and bed sections or just the bow top?

:applause: Wow, Steve, that's coming along beautifully. Very creative. A head turner.

Hard to believe it's built upon a HF frame.

6 cylinder Ford truck is going to pull this one. I think it will weigh about 1400#

A few wagons around a fire pit, the sauna wagon off to the side, yeah, I could live there. 8)

It isn't going all that fast, I have about 60 or so hours in it so far, and no celestory roof on this one, it has to fit in and out of the garage. I do wish I had the room to build it though, maybe next time. Really enjoyed the revisit of late to Doug's celestory roof tutorial on the forum.

How about a retractable celestory roof? C'mon--you gotta over-engineer somewhere!
