I like it!

I do have to say though - you folks who can use SketchUp are freaks of nature!

I can't wrap my little brain around it and here's the scary part - I've got an MS in Computer Science!

Thank you Dave. I enjoyed watching your trolley top build. Your profile is very similar to mine and it was nice to see it become real.

I watched the help videos for SketchUp. They got me going a lot faster than I would have just trying to figure it out on my own. As I started to draw my design on SketchUp I would use the help function or search on google to find out how to do something I could not figure out. It really did not take long to start making decent looking drawings. I am sure there is alot more to learn about the program then I know, but the more I learn the more impressed I am with the program.

Color design and name

Postby danlott » Tue Nov 03, 2009 1:29 am

I am just about finished modifying the frame and thinking about paint colors. Asking for a little help on paint design ideas and possibly a good name for the camper.

My son likes bright color and we have thought maybe something with orange in it. Maybe the artist folks here can help with a paint design.

As for names, I have thought of fairly common names like "Comet Tear" or "Titan Tear". I do realize that other people on here have used these names, so still scratching my head a little there. Any input on names would be great also.

I am the last guy to ask on names but the top has the look of a mohawk or a rooster comb. maybe a play off either of those names/ideas

Very Nice Design Dan.
And I agree with the others, you did an amazing job in Sketchup. I've been playing with CAD for a few years and Sketchup frustrates me. Probably because I don't need it and haven't spent the time to learn like you have. I do like the renderings it produces.

Great design Dan!
How about Classic Trolley Car Colors and Name.
Trolleys were often named for the streets they ran followed by the route number. You could name it after your favorite Street Name.
Just a thought.

Hey,
Nice plan, How about the name--"the Caboose",since it kind of looks like an old time railcar?

Dan,

VERY nice design!

Sure looks more like a Greek helmet than a flat-top, box-shaped trolley car.

But, "Spartan" is already taken.

And I suppose the name "Trojan" would be inappropriate.

So how about just "The Tiny Trolley" instead of anything harder to say. That's three T's as in T&TTT. :D

Have been in Nevada in July. if it's anything but white on top; gonna soak up the sun.

As for a name? Think of the straight thru trolley . . . .the "express" . . .I'lllet you fill in the blanks

The Trolley top always reminded me of Noah's Ark personally...

"Noah's Escape"
"Noah's Getaway"
"The Ark"

Just top of the head ideas, but no matter what you call it, you are rolling with an excellent idea!

Names and paint

Postby danlott » Mon Nov 16, 2009 12:15 pm

Thank you everyone for the name suggestions. So far nothing really seems to fit. I am still kind of thinking about "Comet Tear".

Here is what I have come up with on the paint design.
Image

Let me know if anyone has any other suggestions. Always open to new ideas.

As for the build... I have almost finished modifying the frame. It has been going slower than I would like due to work and other commitments, but I will continue to push ahead.

Love the layout! How about naming it for a comet or meteor shower? Haleys Tear or somethin? Look them up, I bet there are a bunch of names out there for them.
