What sort of router/bit did you use to cut that aluminum?

Thanks

Hi TB, Dan's an awesome man and a hell of a craftsman. He's taught me a lot about cabinetry and woodworking for sure. We kind of trade off; he routes one side then I do the other after watching him, he makes one cabinet then I'd do another...then he fixes my mistakes. :D

Hi Ted, We're mostly using a Diablo 3/8 in. x 1/2 in. Carbide Flush Trimming Router Bit with a little hand-held router. None of the bits smaller than 3/8" would work, they clogged and melted the aluminum without really cutting it at all.

A Big Thank You to Everyone following my build!

More soon,

Dave

This last week has been pretty productive.

Image
The Fantastic fan is installed.

Image
The better-than-hurricane hinge is installed and the roof edge trim on the driver's side.

Image
Here you can see that the door edge molding is also done!

Image
The passenger side roof edge trim is ready for final installation too.

She's getting closer all the time.

Cabela's tomorrow...I'll be there sans Travelear this time.

All the best,

Dave

Looking great Dave. As much as I was hoping to see the Travelear tomorrow, now is not the time to rush it as you well know. There shall be another day for it to shine!

Dave, bring some pics tomorrow, if you can, for those that might have missed (gasp) your build thread! See you soon. I should be sleeping. Oh, if you have it at home, throw in Fredrick's manual, in case we have anyone seriously interested in building!

Is your tongue box designed to be a separate, removable unit? Or will it have access into the sleeper?

Hi GRY GHST, Good to hear from you. The tongue box will be a permanent fixture once it's finished. There's no access to it from the inside. It houses the electrical, tools, wheel chocks and such.

Cheers,

Dave
