Thanks Cliff: We did enjoy ourselves. You can check out what I got done this last week-end in my next post.
Glad to hear you will be working on your TD soon. It is looking very nice as well.

Update, 08-01-2011

Postby down under tech » Mon Aug 01, 2011 6:03 pm

I worked on the TD Saturday and Sunday this past week-end. I was able to accomplish a bunch of tasks on it. I installed the Fantastic vent fan. I still need to silicone the edges and the screws.

Image

I got most of the 12 volt DC wiring done and all of the lights, radio and vent fan hooked up and working. I need to hook up the galley light and the water pump for the sink yet. The hole in the side wall is for the 120 volt AC to come in from the outside. I have to install the 120 volt AC wiring later.

Image

I installed the galley wall edge trim with screws on inside the of the galley for a clean finished look. If you look across to the other side, you can see a few of the five screws on the inside of the trim.

Image

The galley hatch is installed and the wooden support is only temporary. I will use some hatch supports to hold it open later.

Image

The tail/brake and license plate lights are all wired up and work nicely.

Image

I started putting on the body lower trim around the edges. Here is what the front of the TD looks like. I still plan to add some aluminum diamond plate on the front to act as a debris deflector, But that will come later. I am just trying to get it camp-able for now.

Thanks Sharon: This project is becoming a nightmare.
I just need to keep fighting the big old monster of "time" required to finish it up, if and when I can find it...

I feel your pain. In November, it will be the three-year anniversary of the start of my construction, though I'm hoping to be finished by the end of September.

Take care,
Tom

Update, 08-02-2011

Postby down under tech » Tue Aug 02, 2011 11:13 pm

More accomplished today after work. I trimmed out the rear floor edge of the TD with some left over roof/side trim. I had and a piece of flat aluminum to cover the wood under the floor. The two pieces made it look just right. I also made up the end pieces that are on the outside corners of the galley by the side walls.

Image

I trimmed the lower side edges with 1/8" by 1" flat stock. I need to touch up the silver paint on the frame as you can see.

Image

I placed the tongue box on the front to get an idea of how it will look when it is installed. That comes tomorrow.

Johnny you almost got'r done bud! Mine is still dismantled . I like how your using the 1/8 thick aluminium ya got from Lowes. Once you get it campable you'll take your time finishing it as you start working on Terri's Toad.

I really like the fake tin. I might borrow that idea. Thanks for taking the time to share your build.

Griz: It was easier to buy one already made up. It was black, but I painted it silver with Krylon plastic paint. It turned out OK. I need to put on one more coat to make it look right.

Cliff: Thanks so much... It had been a long time since I started on the TD, but it looks like it will turn out to look very presentable when I get done.

John & Whitney: Thanks for your nice comments.

Kirk: I give you permission to use any of my ideas you want to. The ideas on this forum are made to be "Borrowed". Good luck on your build. PS add plenty of photos...

Breezy: Thank you, yours will look just as good. Remember to plan out your moves and take your time and you will have a fine looking TD.

Terry and I went camping in the cargo trailer again last week end. We needed to get away and since I have not gotten the "Silver Nugget" campable yet. Here are some pictures of our outing. We went to Frenchman Dam this time. It is only 40 miles from our home. It is near Portola CA. I have a regular work schedule this week and I will get more done.

Here are some pictures from last Saturday and Sunday...

Looking left.

Image

Looking right from the same spot.

Image

This is the boat ramp.

Image

There is a small island in this view.

Image

You have to drive up this rock lined canyon to get up to where the dam and the four different campgrounds are. The views are spectacular...

Image

There are two caves in the side of the rock face about 1/3 of the way down from the top of the side of this rock formation. They might have been here back in wild west times or before that ???

Image

Look for an update soon... :)
