John,

That's a slick looking tongue box. It really looks great with the lines of your teardrop!

My feelings are that details like your tongue box, although they consume a lot of time, add a lot of character to a build. Of course, they add a lot of time too.

Keep up the good work. There aren't too many days before the ooppressive heat kicks in.

Take care,
Tom

Got to spend another Saturday in the garage.

I finished up the front lower panels and installed them.

Image

Used pocket screws to secure the panel to the tongue box.

Image

I will build shelves and a cabinate front in the cubbys to use the space for storage.

Image

I also purchased windows and door latches this week. I am still deciding how I am going to lay them out exactly.

Image

The lower part of the window cranks out to allow ventilation even in rain. Found these on E-bay.

Built the bulkhead between the sleeping area and the tongue box storage today.

Image

This indent is to allow me to stretch out and sleep comfortably.

Test fitting the IOTA AC/DC power distribution box. I decided to mount it here for easy access to the DC fuses and AC circuit breakers from inside the cabin.

Great work John!

How did you work in that oppressive humidity this weekend? It kept me from getting my lazy butt out to the garage.

I like the location for your converter. I originally was going to have mine tucked away, but changed the location where it will be easily accessible.

Take care,
Tom

I finally got the tongue box finished. If I I ever build another one, I don't think I would integrate the box. What a pain. The end result is worth it. But is a lot of work.

I missed 2 build weeks when I got sick over Memorial Day weekend and took 2 weeks to stop trying to cough up a lung.

Here is the recent progress:

Finished the Tongue box and the front panel for the trailer. To the right of the trailer you can see the first roof panel with the spars curing. It is actually starting to look like my design.

Image

The inside of the trailer. The alcoves on the left and right will be enclosed for storage.

Took a daylight picture to show better how the tongue integrates with the body.

Making more progess even though it feels like an oven in my garage.

Completed the 2 roof panels and test fitted them. I will not permanently mount them until after I have weather proofed the bottom of the body.

Image

The hole in the top panel is for the fanatastic vent fan. I have the wiring conduit already in place to run the wiring through the panel and into the back wall.

Interior shot from the rear. The panel in the foreground is to keep the body from racking when I take it off for weather proofing.

Interior from the drivers side door.

Today I also started working on the wheel wells. Will have pics of those hopefully tomorrow.

Great read and great workmanship!

Hopefully it'll cool down for ya a bit :worship:

Gets a lot more fun once some of the finishing details start to come together.

Finished the wheel wells today. It's now ready to take the body off and weather proof the underside. I pulled it out of the garage to take a quick pick to show it s real size behind the Jeep. There is enough room between the jeep and the body to open the tailgate.

Bottom side of trailer is weather tight.
Body is permanently mounted to the frame.
Top side is primed and ready for the roof coating when it arrives.

Image

Time to start running electrical and building the doors and hatches.
