Thanks guys for the kind words.

That A-frame jack was a relatively inexpensive modification. I really like how that and the LED lights turned out.

I'm learning something with every build I read, and yours was no exception. Going to use a center jack vs. side mount and some sort of protection like your diamond plate in front for wear protection.

Thanks for the great detail, lot's of pitfalls you were able to document - sure makes it less intimidating when you're a noob like me and can now keep an eye out for those little "Murphy Moments".

Really nice trailer!

It has been several months since I last updated and I thought back then I was actually done, NOT!!

I decided to have a side tent made in hopes of pleasing my wife with alittle extra room plus privacy. I had a local upholster make it for me and he used marine grade grommets, snaps, and zipper. I made the poles out of emt conduit and I made them where they would collapse. The tent is made out of a material called vista from DLT that is used to make boat and grill covers. It also has reinforcements sewn into it at the high stress areas. It seems to be very well made. Anyway, maybe now I'll actually be done with updates but who knows for sure.

 Nice Larry and the more you camp in it, the more you will add-on to the tear as you find different needs. I just use an ez-up and side walls and fix the walls so only thing you see from outside is our ankles . It gives us enough room so if I wake her in middle of night she can set in the chair outside the door and read (only happens every other trip) in comfort and not next to my rumble! Well keep it up bud!

Cliff
In God we trust, shoot the rest and he will sort out!

Very nice Larry.
I like the center mounted tongue jack. The one on my HF trailer is on the side, as you stated it, really twist the trailer.
I need to replace it and extend the hitch at the same time.

I've been reading through all the build thread of people that have finished their campers. Trying to do a few a week.
I keep bookmarking the one that have good ideal for when I start my build. For now I'm just rebuild a used one.

Not sure if you remember the A-Team TV show. Ba Baracus ( Mr. T ) hated to fly, you remember how Hannibal had to
drug Ba’s milk to get him on plane flights? Is your wilf lactose intolerant? :R

Thanks Whitney, Cliff and Terry

Terry (junkboy999), My wife isn't lactose intolerant but she is kinda outdoorsey intolerant and I'm hopeing this side tent will help with her intolerance problems. She does kinda have Mr T's ,(I pity the fool) personality when she gets upset.

Very nice Larry. By the way Mary has been out camping in our tear 3 times now . Now she would not have it any other way. Good luck.

Hi Kirk

Becky has told me she will try again.

She is alittle claustrophobic but she is working on it. We slept in the camper in the driveway awhile back and with the new mattress, she did ok. We both slept pretty good that night. I figured the side tent with the extra room and added privacy would be a big plus in trying to get her back out.

What helped us is the fantastic vent fan. Air is the key.

I have the fantastic fan. It's the same size as the fantastic vent fan. I could probably hang it under the roof vent or hang it on one of the windows. :D

Re: Camp Critter update 6-7-2013

Here are a few more updates since the last one in august of last year. I decided to lower the camper and I'm really glad I did.

Image

Image

Before the axle flip the axle really stood out and now that it's lower, it doesn't stand out as much.
I also found some 12" hubcaps and I think it looks a little better than the white spoke wheels.
I also mounted the lights on the hatch lid and made a bumper out of a piece of oak. I needed some kind of
bumper to hide all the drill holes that were on the back end.

Image

I also had to mount new fenders too.

Image

Now I'll probably have to re-adjust the side tent because the camper is about 2" to 3" lower.
Luckily I can still stand under the hatch while its up.

Great mods Larry. Looks really nice, and I agree, the Critter looks better lower. And really like the hubcaps
