Thanks, I guess I'm an oak freak. Everything is red oak and I stained it with minwax golden oak and I also used helmsman spar urethane semi-gloss.

Love oak guess that's why I was drawn to it. Thanks for the color info, I'll probably go that route on the one I'm working on now

Thanks Larry, mine calls for a 3/8" notch. Mine looks like its going to be wider bend than yours and I have a lot of 3/4" birch ply left over right now that so far has not been showing any voids. I will be working on the side profile between rain storms tomorrow as the main trailer and all the plywood that is on it is in the middle of my work area . All else fails I will be heading out in the am to buy ply for cabinets and may just set the stuff to cut on saw horse on the trailer to cut ;) .

VERY nice work on that galley! We could have used someone with your skills back at the cabinet shop.

Excellent job! It looks great!

Thanks for the comment. I'm not skilled at this, I'm just winging it. As far as my cabinets, the only thing I made were the face frames. I bought the doors un-finished at a cabinet door shop that sells slightly blemished doors. That be the truth. :)

Great build Larry. I like the galley. I have learned something about the hatch though. Like you, I made the spars out of ply and did not think the screws would not hold. I had planned for real wood for the cross pieces especially where the hinge screws are fixed. I will have to re work mine out of real wood.

The doors are only one part of the galley. If that's "winging it," you have better skills than you think - a good eye for proportion being one of them.

I stand by my statement - excellent job!

After thinking about it for awhile I decided to use sliding doors on the rear cabin cabinets. I'm done with framing it and hopefully tomorrow I'll get to finish it.

Thanks Cliff. It should look alot better when I get done with it. Those fender washers are a sight but they were necessary in the installation of that 1/4" thick interior ceiling. I also got some of the galley finishing in the back corners. I gonna finish it all the same anyway plus the fender washers will be hidden when I install the sliding doors.

I may take the fender washers out and just leave some of the wood screws in. I glued the ceiling to the spars but I want alittle extra insurance to keep it from breaking loose.

Very nice Larry! Those cabinets look good and provide a lot of useful storage. I think the sliding door concept works well inside the teardrop.

Take care, Tom

Thanks Tom
I figure since my tear is so small (4'x8') and cramped, the last thing I need is cabinet doors that swing open.

Here are a few pics of the sliding door cabinet. All thats left is to apply the finish and to fashion some kind of trim piece for the top.
