My Teardrop Build Progress

Postby CSJOKER » Sun Apr 03, 2011 12:07 pm

I am new to this forum, but have done a ton of reading and design work on my own Teardrop Build. Although like many projects not everything is exactly the way I planned it. The trailer is 5'x8' and the teardrop stands 6' tall (exterior of the wall). Check out my build on my site: http://www.csjoker.com/teardrop-project/

UPDATE

Postby CSJOKER » Mon Apr 04, 2011 9:07 am

So I had a friend of mine offer up a free A/C unit for the Teardrop but, unfortunately the A/C unit was too big. So I had to order a<a href="http://amzn.com/B003F4TH6G"> Frigidaire A/C unit off of Amazon</a>. Below is a pic showing the difference in size.
<img src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/_Zr0_PpW-9jw/TY4te9kXBII/AAAAAAAAAig/S55QGqeWJSo/s400/IMG00245-20110316-1703.jpg" alt="" />

After working for most of the day with my brother and future brother-in-law, we were able to get a lot done on the A/C cabinet.

After about a week or two my custom doors from<a href="http://i69trailercenter.com/"> I69 Trailer Center</a> came in, they are AWESOME!
<img src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/_Zr0_PpW-9jw/TY4tf-hMNbI/AAAAAAAAAio/5R0Q_oDCUys/s400/IMG00254-20110324-1727.jpg" alt="" />

I completed the casing for the A/C Unit
<img src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/_Zr0_PpW-9jw/TZiTjQQYaKI/AAAAAAAAAjI/8_1-s-24ifk/s640/IMG00259-20110327-1913.jpg" alt="" />

There was a change of plans, I decided that it would be best to have the A/C unit be removed when not in use, rather than have it hang out full-time and/or be built into a cabinet.

Well yesterday started out rough when I broke one of my bits

Starting to cut out the opening for the door

Do you plan on painting the outside? Or will you be skinning it with aluminum?

I plan on using a black aluminum skin for the outside, and waynes coating for the inside.

The doors have worked out well! I have finally wired up the camper, next step is finishing the inside.

Christopher,

Your build is looking great...and those doors are awesome!

At your current pace, I have a feeling your first camping trip will be sometime this summer.

Take care,
Tom
