Looks great Tom I like the tounge box How does th HHR do pulling it? I'll be pulling mine with the one in my profile pic.I have the 2.4 engine.I've got a 5x8 flatbed trailer that I haul materials on ,plywood ,tile.etc.and it pulls just fine.
The gas mileage is not as good as I thought. I get about 18 MPG. I live in the Ozarks and it is pretty hilly around here. I did get about 20 out in Kansas. I think I would probably weigh in between 1000-1200 lbs. Just too scared to actually find out. Talked to another member at a gathering who claimed he got about 24 MPG and his looked a little heavier than mine.
What a great build! Great to see the whole thing from start to finish. I bet it's super fun to take camping. If I ever get done with my current project I'd sure like to tackle one of these units. Maybe someday!
The road less traveled usually has fewer potholes.
Tom your description of your self "I am an experienced carpenter and a helicopter structural repairman retired from the Army"
then to see the pictures of you putting the trailer together you look much younger than I thought............
great job on build, I am constantly amazed at the level of workmanship that some people have that which seems to have skipped me completely.
