removed the doors last nite to cut them down a bit...

i originally decided to make the doors myself to save a few bucks, but in hindsight after the windows, handles, hinge materials, weather strip, aluminum trim (maybe) and time spent... i'm thinking if i ever build another one i'm going with pre-fab.

friday is almost here, woohoo!

glued this...
Image

painted that...
Image

(by the way... you may know this already, but if you're ever gonna be repeatedly using a brush with the same color of *water based* paint over a long period of time rather than cleaning it just wrap it in a plastic bag & throw it in the freezer... and obviously take it out a little while before you paint again so it can thaw...)
Image

templated this... (just in case i need it...)
Image

bent this... WITHOUT CRACKING!!! WOOHOO!!!
Image
(many thanks to all who gave suggestions/ advice...) :worship:

Image

Image
(not glued yet, but i'm just stoked it's finally successfully bent...)

shortened these...
Image

Image
(measure twice, cut once...)

and this...

hope all is well wit'chall

Your door screws looked like snap-buttons to me at first glance then I saw what they really are.

Made me think if you would use snap-buttons on the top trim pieces it would be easy to add a side awning either or both sides.

I know quit thinking and leave the building to me

Hey Kent, is that paneling the 1/4 inch ply from one of the big box stores.....if so, I'm happy to see it bends well.

happy friday!!! :P :P :P

@cliff... thanks! if you mean the unfinished portrait of my lady, it's on hold til we take this sucka to the woods!

@frank... gotta admit i have a true love for the absurd... i think it's from too much british comedy :CC

@pete... naw man, i appreciate the suggestions... that's a really good idea but i actually ordered 2 of these from wallyworld's website already... texsport spinnaker auto shade... on clearance for $31 with free shipping so we'll see if they work out...
Image

@breezy... it's this... from the blue box... 5mm, so i *think* somewhere in between 1/8" and 1/4"
Image

anywayz, my sweetie came over last nite so i didn't get too much done... just a little more on the hatch latch... put it together, take it apart... drill, cut, drill... put it together, take it apart...
Image

wait... where's the spot that's still causing friction?

oh, right... it's...
Image

also cut 2 guide blocks for the ends so when the rods are in (unlocked) they still stay lined up...
Image

will be only about 1/2" deep on each side when locked, so it's not gonna keep any bears or supervillians out, but still a deterrent for honest people at least...
Image

and welp... next weekend is hillstock so my camp-able by october goal ain't gonna happen, but oh well... tent camping it shall be. fortunately my girl digs the outdoors so much that we've tent camped in like 20 degree weather, freezing rain, bone-chilling wind etc before, so we *will* be taking this monster out for a maiden voyage sometime this year even if it's winter...

so, until next time... umm... don't take any wooden nickels.

You're doing good, Kent. ...Love your sense of humor.

You've got about a month, maybe two, before Ma Nature really starts her winter thing. If you can get it enclosed by then, that's half the battle.

Best Wishes! :applause:
