did some (quiet! it's 2am in suburbia!) cicada & moth approved perma-r cutting & dry fitting tonite...
Image

since i still need to run wires (so will need to pull the insulation back out) i numbered the pieces with a sharpie... (and have a spray can of medium expandy foam for the oopsie cuts/ gaps...)
Image

also over-bought by a sheet, so if anybody wants it for free please send a SASE ('self-addressed-stamped-envelope' or 'snail-mail' for those of you who 'peep-speak') and i'll stuff that sucker in there...

anywayz, here's my quick mock-up so's she can see what's happening in mah brainz... & help with sizing galley vs sleep space since we're gonna be living outta this thing on random weekends & for a couple weeks straight out west next summer.

Note to self.... Don't drink anything while reading a Kent post.

hope everybody had a great weekend! :Flippin Burger: :guzzle:

so yeah... i *of course* didn't get as much done as i'd hoped (because i never do with anything) but it was still nice that my girlfriend was off work all weekend to hangout & help... a second pair of hands definitely helps...

did some more kerfing... getting a little better at it i guess...
Image

started messing with the front window... drilling, heating, getting it to fit little by little... totally winging this part... still need to figure out what to do with the inside trim etc...
Image

Image

please note: THIS is NOT a hair dryer...
Image
(unless you wanna look like THIS!)

Image

Image

oh also, check this out... so being the idiot i am, when i was originally designing the basic inside layout it never occurred to me that a cooler gets a couple inches deeper when opened...
Image

Image
luckily no glue was yet involved so it was easily remedied... we ended up losing a couple inches in the sleeping quarters though... so not a huge deal really, but i *can* say the fact that i still fit in there comfortably has once & for all dashed my dreams of being an NBA megastar.

not sure... to me it looks like the side window from a pick-up camper shell or something(?)

got the part from a local rv/ salvage shop purely because i like the size/ shape/ tint, but the 'bubble' aspect of it is honestly making it a giant PITA to work with... well, plus it's on a curve of the tear which isn't making it any easier... :?

the stamp in the corner says this if that helps...

Kent,

You're showing great patience with that front window. I don't know if it is my age or what, by I would have thrown that thing on the floor and smashed it with a cinder block by now. It does look great and should provide a nice open feel inside your teardrop.

Take care,
Tom

@tom... yeah, it is kind of a pain but i worked with acrylic years ago in my college sculpture classes so *somewhat* know how it behaves under a heat gun... really the inside trim is gonna be more of a challenge i think... it's curving this way & that way at the same time! :?
