nope! i just swill beer & listen to a lotta drum n bass while i work! (it's like 160bpm) :?

anywayz, cut and kreg'd the bottom of the electrical run...
Image

Image

finished the blocks & cross piece for the hatch latch & glued it in...
Image

Image

dryfitted the electrical run bottom...
Image

cut down & installed a couple of wire hiders since i realized i wanna paint them the same inside color (though they'll eventually be kinda hidden in the cabinets too..)
Image

and fabricated the 2 switch boxes for each side (for indoor & outdoor lights...)
Image

so yeah... getting closer, but unfortunately i get home so late from work that i can't use power tools outside (except maybe sneaking a bit of quick drilling here & there :shhh: ) so i'm stuck doing smaller quiet things a huge percent of the week unless it's something small/ light enough that i can haul it up and down the basement steps by myself to actually use the jigsaw or whatever. anyway, we're tent camping this weekend, but i'm hoping my girl can come over the following one to help skin the whole thing and get the front box attached after which i can finally get to the epoxy and such during the work week after that when it's back to quiet time.

i'm happy with the progress but still feel like there's a MILLION things left to do... and that's just to get it simply campable... :duh:

hope everybody's having a good tuesday

Postby Rick_in_FL » Tue Sep 27, 2011 2:39 pm

Kent,

A newbie here and I have been enjoying reading about your build, today.

Am starting mine in the next week or so.

But I was wondering...Does the Morse make the building easier? I hope so, I can copy 40 wpm. :D

I'm learning a lot from all the posts.

happy monday all :D

well, i got nothing done on the camper, but sharon wanted camping pics so here ya go. my girlfriend's sister's boyfriend's dad owns 15 acres in the middle of a national forest so we tend to go there a lot when it's a group of us.

friday night we had a decent little fire going. here's adam using an airbed pump to ignite the 6"x6"x24" block of magnesium that he dropped in the fire...
Image

Image

Image

Image

and here comes my lovely lady... that's our setup for the weekend behind her...
Image

once it really got going it was... bright
Image

bright enough that we wore sunglasses for like 2 hours and had no trouble walking around...
Image

this is molten magnesium...
Image

next day my girl & i hiked around for a while...
Image

Image

Image

when we got back they'd already started construction on the next fire...
Image

as ozzy looked on...
Image

that's mah girl! :)
Image

Image

Image

here's a quick one for scale...
Image

and then it got too hot... back it up!
Image

hope to get a lot done on the camper this week/ coming weekend

You guys are tooo funny! Glad you had a good time, even if you did have to dream about how warm and comfy you would have been in the trailer! That will help provide motivation to finish it. Thanks for the pics and narration. :applause:

 HAHAHAHA!
i was wondering if that post would freak people out...

@sharon... you asked for it! :D

@cliff... not *all* of us here... think i've seen *maybe* 1 TD in STL ever...

@john... thanks! i'm having fun but just wanna get it camp-able!

also, really... we don't typically camp like that... when it's just she & me we're low-key & super quiet... would rather listen to the coyotes and owls... but that was a private property 'gathering' sorta thing... (yet super fun none the less!)

and i did get a few things done tonite, but don't feel like hassling with pics right now... perhaps tomorrow...

nite all

That's not a fire............

THIS is a fire!

WhitneyK Dundee,

....now that was a fire! 8)

Kent,

I've toted a small magnesium fire starter in my pack for almost twenty years. Used it to start mebbe a dozen camp fires. A half a spoon full of shavings made a flash that would temporarily blind a fellow. Can't imagine a 6by6by24 block....bet it was awesome!
