well I bolted the floor to the frame with 5" carriage bolts and right now I have the walls screwed to the floor with 3" drywall screws but will replace with countersunk carraige bolts before I skin it.

:applause: :applause: :applause: That's great! I love the big window and the doors. Now I wouldn't insulate anything but the roof cause you really do have the mother of all windows... 8) Mine was big too. Get in a great breeze but also the cold and heat.

Jeremy,

Love the big windows. As to the "room with a view"...you can always make double rail curtains (rail on top and bottom) for privacy.

Like the doors too. Where'd you get those for $50? Looks like a deal.

Nice job Jeremy :applause:. Tha name is great but as long as the better half likes it then what we say doesn't matter  . Like the windows and the doors but are you going to modify them (doors) so you can open and close from the inside?

Miriam- yeah I thought about the heat aspect (we dont really have much cold weather here to worry about) but most of the state parks we camp at around here have pretty shady spots. thank you for the applause :)

Woodstramp- as far as privacy some 5% window tint should take care of that. The doors I got off of Ebay from a seller named bottomdollarsurplusinc
they always have alot of surplus and salvaged rv parts and they are usually pretty cheap!!!

Cliff- The name was her idea
I think I'm going to order a set of teardrop door handle kit off of ebay to replace the keyed lock on the doors still will keep the thumb locks for added security i think.

Ok time to go and upload some new pics for everyone's entertainment

Jeremy,

I entered the bottomdollarsurplusinc into the Ebay search box and came up with no info. You got a direct link to the seller?

Time for an update and to show why I the shape changed into what it is.
Image
temporarily got the sides scabbed together to start getting the profile finished

Test fitting the back windows to "fully complete the Room with a View"

I could have saved some windows for my next build but since these didn't open I figured I would still need more anyway, so I used them all on this trailer.
The back lower section is going to act like my galley counter top with a permanently mounted sink and space to set my cook stove.

RE: Name Tweek

Postby mezmo » Tue Sep 06, 2011 9:54 pm

Hi jbyrd

Nice unique design. Get block-out curtains if you like to sleep in though!
And be sure to put it under a large easy-up type sun-blocking shelter if
there is any sun around or it'll turn into the "Swelter Shelter"! - not being
negative - just wanted to mention the solar gain thing - you being in
Florida and all.

I like the name - it was a good movie too - but maybe you could tweek
it a bit to: "Roam With A View" - since you asked for comments on it.

'Continued good luck with the completion efforts.

Cheers,
Norm/mezmo

Mezmo ,
Thanks for the comments. I haven't really decided yet on the curtains thing yet (I'm not a big fan of curtains that close to the bed, I'm a really rough sleeper and tend to tear them down  ) My plan to counter the heat gain was some 5% window tint.
I really like the idea you came up with for the name, that's the kind of help I was looking for, Just need to run it by the boss a.k.a. My wife

ok new update lots going on.
I got the bulkhead wall partially built.
Image
Image
Nothing is glued yet just held together with screws right now.
The cut out is for the a/c which will be vented through the floor in the cargo area.
Ok the newest update is I have been worried about the trailer I was building on was too small, so yesterday I did some wheeling and dealing and came home with a new bigger trailer, It has a heavier axle, is 61" wide (which my build is 62.5" wide) and is longer and also has bigger wheels.
So today was spent prepping, painting and transferring my build over to the new trailer.
Image

Image
Image
Image
The axle originally rode under the springs but after a quick axle flip It's now a lowrider
Image
Image
After alot of cutting, grinding, sanding and painting she's ready. I painted it with two coats of black rustoleum spray and then two coats of tsc black beauty fence and barn paint. I haven't painted the tongue because I still need to bolt down the tilt mech. and put on a new receiver hitch and probably cut the tongue shorter.
Image
This is how the tsc paint dries with just a brush. I like this stuff!
Image
To transfer it over to the new trailer I just unbolted it from the old trailer picked it up and slid it over to the new trailer. What ya think about my tow vehicle  ?
Image
Image
Image
If one of you expert's would chime in here and help me out, I would really appreciate it. Is that enough clearance between the tire and the wall?
Image
Image
I have about 3/4 of an inch between the tire and wall.
Ok that's all I got for now, but more to come soon I got a bunch of new parts in today
Til later, See ya
