It is wonderful that you share your travels with us through your photography.
I would never be able to see these interesting locations, and Architecture or
people without your excellent depictions.
:D
I have so many allergies that extensive travel is almost impossible for me.
Thanks so much.

Stainless Steel Micro-Airstream behind motorcycle

Postby ST1100 » Wed Sep 20, 2017 1:32 pm

Hello girls & guys,

In the middle of June 2017 I took my new ride to the north to travel Scandinavia, where I have been never before, except in Denmark.

After 7 years of project work, I was able to take three weeks of vacation.
I wished to see the midnight sun and when I travel above the Polar Circle, I wanted to visit the Nordkapp, too.

On the way to the north, it was a good idea to stay in Copenhagen and also in Stockholm for two days and to see the two cities during the summertime.
Stockholm I did not know yet and Copenhagen only from a business trip in January (brrrr) many years ago.

My start date should bring me at the Midsummers Weekend to Stockholm and I hoped to see many American Vintage Cars and parties at the Baltic Beaches.

And after 15 years with the ST 1100 this should also be my first big trip with the 16-year-old blue GL 1800, I bought in February.
Of course with my little airstream on the hook. The rough plan was around 9,500 km of road plus 22 ferry routes.

After the 8,500 km tour around Spain and Portugal with my first ST 1100 in 2014, this would be the second big trip with the trailer.

I started on Friday the 16th of June at 3 o'clock after work and wanted to come near Erfurt.
Over the B85 I drove through the Bavarian Wood and then took the B22 through the Fichtelgebirge.
After passing Rudolstadt I began looking for a place to stay overnight and my GPS showed me a long dirt road on the left.

Under a couple of windmills, I stopped my rig after 408 km and slipped into in my can bed.

On Saturday morning I took the B4 towards Magdeburg and through the Harz Mountains with speed limit 60 everywhere.
My Garmin zumo sends me on the shortest way without Autobahn through Lübeck to Fehmarn.

In the ferry queue in Puttgarden I met a small Spaniard, who is on a 950 KTM on the way to the north
and after crossing my first ocean, I decided to go on to Copenhagen into the night.

At sunset at 9:30 I have dinner at a Burger King and at 11 a.m. I arrived at the Camping Fort Charlottenlund after 724 km.
The reception is closed, but on the beach parking lot I can sleep in the trailer.

Hello Folks - nice you remembered me :)

In 2014 I made my 8500 km trip to Portugal, Spain and Gibraltar. All pictures HERE!

In 2015 and 2016 I only visited some rallies with my micro airstream behind the bike.

This June and July I plan to visit Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Norway to see the midnight sun and celebrate Midsummers Night in Stockholm.
9500 km with three weeks time to reach the Nordkapp and come back.

Tommy

I followed this from the start, this is impressive. You really are in a great place to be able to do all that traveling and seeing other countries. Here in the states we can we go to Canada but going south into Mexico is not advised, the cartels have made it bad for tourists, unless you go to a resort.
