Made only a KISS fender today - total cost for two 1.79 Euro (cement bucket) only to get the prototype through the technical inspection.

Tomorrow the second one will follow and I will see how to fix them without drilling into my frame.

What if you used an Industrial 2 sided tape to hold your fenders on??

Next step - finished "fenders" and found a way to fix them simple with only one screw per fender.

Hope to get tomorrow my unique european serial number by the officials.

Yesss ! I got my official serial number by the german TÜV !
:D

But I have to wait until 1st of March to get it inspected !
:x
Time to improve some things !

So I begin bringing the deck 4 inches higher.
Got two aluminum profiles 3/4 x 4 inches and 8 ft long to build a box and locate it between frame and deck.
So later a new 24 inches wide and 48 inches long deck could cover the wheels.

(UPDATE 22nd Feb.: I think I made a mistake in the conversion from cm to inches - my deck will have 100 x 200 cm - so it will be 39 x 78 inches.)

Remember - 100 cm is our width limit for trailers behind bikes.

I will use the weekend to lift the deck of my basic utility trailer over the wheels.
I cut the alu bars which will fill the space between my axle and deck frame.

Two 140 cm long, this is the width of my planned slideout and the length of my unbent side walls.
Two 99 cm long to meet the 100 cm width limit including the 4 mm nylon caps.

I will joint them with alu angles and rivets.

Your frame is very impressive. It will be fun to watch your build. Thank you for sharing it. :applause:

100 cm = 39 & 3/8 in That's a a bit more that a yardstick's width. I think Roly Nelson has a teardrop that is about 36 inches wide and he's happy with it.

First page of the fred - my posting #06

The view from the rear:

The slideout at the right side is an option for later. First there will be a 140 cm wide door opening up like an awning.
The left wall is closed and will get a fixed window, possibly a windscreen or rear window of a Citroen 2CV or plexiglass.
If I realize the slideout, it offers a possible bed size of 140 x 200 cm ( 4' 8'' x 6' 8'')

39 inches is 4 inches more width than my bed at home - it will be very luxurious inside !

By the way - my air powered tin shear arrived yesterday - no more skin blisters from my old manual tinsnips :D

So I can try to cut the gores for my roof corner mock-up.

Very nice! I can't wait to see your progress. I'm in a similar place with my motorcycle trailer. We don't have the same width restrictions here in Nevada USA. But still need to see around the darn thing! I think your trailer is going to be great! And roomy, as motorcycle trailer go! I'll be watching

Hi again,

Not much time today !
But I set my first deck support bar one inch nearer to the front and drilled three of my bars to lift my frame up.

Image

Got also aluminum sheets for the floor - my hardware shop offered today 25% off all non electric goods.
Took the van of my wife and said that three square meters aluminum sheets should become my birthday gift.
She asked, wether she should wrap it as a present :)

Okay - after coming back from skiing with my daughter today I fixed all and bolted deck, frame and axle together again.

Image

On Friday I got a date with the officials - need only a weight certificate in advance.

The deck is 2 ft wide and 6 1/2 ft long. The complete trailer is 8 ft 5 in long.

Found a good source for stainless steel and alu tubes today only one mile from my office ! :D

If the company, where I work, order the sheets, I will get it for less than half the official price
I have to pay only 5 % more than the purchase price plus 19 % tax.
That will save me more than 250 Euros and I could begin two months earlier.

And I thought about setting my entrance from the rear to the left side, to get a bigger door.
