Yes Paul I made my trim at the shop. Now if you know of any contractor in aluminum siding, they could bend you some thin flashing for molding trim and use a 3m adhesive tape attach, just a thought.
paul.luna wrote:Yeah that's what I have been leaning to as well. Good to know. I wish I knew some one local with a Break I'd like to make my own trim for the hatch too. Did you make custom trim?

Can't get a clear look, did you put a drip rail for when the hatch is up? I am building a similar style hatch and while it doesn't rain much in San Diego area it's still something I want to address. I can see how the rain would not come in while it's closed but when it's up that is my question.

Ok after camping in the Wolf Trail since April, we have come to the decision that foam mattresses suck. We have spent many nights with different configurations of foams setups. So we decided to get a custom mattress made at the local Mattress Factory for a good price. We are off to another camp weekend next weekend and will test it out. With foam/memory foams they can get hard when camping in the cold weather, so with a custom spring mattress like home it feels all the more comfortable. I will post results when we get back.....

Mattress Update.....So we got out for a camp weekend away, the weather was awesome and the Fall colours to die for. We tried our new mattress and it fit the bill and did it's job...No turning back now. There should be one more camp outing before the snow flies....

My winter project is to decide which type of water pump I will install in the trailer. I would also like to install a small fresh water holding tank. It would be to supply my outdoor shower needs. Any ideas or recommendations would be great, thanks.

Great build, Dan. That went together fast. Amazing what you can accomplish when working for a living doesn't get in the way of actually living.

I just ordered one of these. Seems like the right size, and popularly priced. Haven't gotten it yet, haven't tried it, don't know if it's any good. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DLKT4OO/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

They have lots of different sizes.
I'll burn that bridge when I come to it.

How's that edge molding holding up? Any cracking or other issues?

that's awesome! and man, that's a sharp looking build.

how did you go about fastening the aluminum skin to the sides? Is it glued on in some way? Since I'm planning a standy, I'm bound to have a seam..any thoughts on how to seal the seam up?

Thanks Charles appreciate the comment. As for the sides, they are sealed with a silicone adhesive on all perimeters. Then i used butyl tape for all flush mounted window's/door's/plugs so believe I have it sealed up pretty good. So basically the sealing of the perimeter's and mounting of the window's, door's, plugs, outlets and trim is all that is used for fastening. Hope that helps, if you need more info ask away.

Well the temperatures are going above freezing. That means the snow will start to melt, I will be getting the trailer out and giving it a once over for the season. So hopefully will head out in 4 weeks for a early outing up north. Can't wait to get out and smell the campfire again.

Well my Shurflo water pump came in, I have been getting all necessary hoses and fittings for hook up. I am still hunting for a fresh water holding tank, hoping to find one locally here as not have to pay huge for shipping. Will post pics once I have all the needed parts.

Well along with doing some plumbing, I have been working on front storage for the trailer. I have built it with dimensions of 48W x 20D x 18H
Have used some composite ends with 1/8'' Luan, .040 Aluminum skin, 1''x2'' pine ribs, 3/4'' Plywoood base, 18''x2''Aluminum piano hinge. I do have a couple of gas struts that may be used for opening. I have the option of using the end entry doors or hinge the whole lid up. The reason was that some items may be larger than the opening. So as it sits right now I will likely finish final assembly next weekend.

Have you noticed any real benefit to having the back of the trailer squared off?
