I had to fit the aluminum on the hatch, then need to cut out latch holes. Then make some trim pieces for the edging. If all goes well should have it done by next weekend

So as I build, I will incorporate roof racks for my kayaks. I have made up mounts for it but still need to form the cross bar. The cross bar will be
3.5 x 2.6 x .090 Alum. channel. In the design there will be awning tubes built into the channel that slide out 6ft.The awning is not large, but enough to keep the area dry when need be. Also when we camp I throw up either my 20 x 30 or 16 x 20 tarp up for full protection...

Ok now that the skin has been fitted to hatch, I did the latch cut outs to make sure all functions work and for clearance. I could not believe that when closed they actually drew the door in snug. So adjustment will be made once the weather stripping is in place. Tomorrow I will make up trim caps for the edging also.

Of course they did. Your work is impeccable and you obviously used the 6 P's...

Prior Planning Prevents P*ss Poor Perfomance.

I am jealous over how quickly this is coming together for you. :applause:

It is looking good.

As with my aluminum frame trailer, I fabricated spring mounts out of 3/16 steel. They will get powder coating prior to install, all I need to do is size up my shackle length and get that part of the build out of the way. Oh ya if you look closely I missed end holes in my mount. In Autocad drawing/dxf if you miss anything then it wont be there when you lazer cut it...dumb dee dumb dumb...

Oh another photo I haven't shown was the latch backing plate mounted. I screwed 1inch.S.S screws and construction adhesive to fasten. Reason was for a secure locking point, and a tight seal. Just adding a little beef lol....
