The frp is no problem to work with, jimun, I'm just using frp adhesive. I'll be putting more screws in the trim to double secure it, as I don't know what will happen when the frp expands in the sunlight.

The only problem I had was coming up with ways to clamp it or weight it when waiting for the adhesive to dry.

It's also more of a weight penalty than I anticipated. If I had used aluminum and contact cement it'd probably be at least 40 lbs lighter.

Was looking for some broom clamps to let me swing up my hatch props and secure them, and I found one of these for six bucks at lowes.

Chopped it into pieces and installed these. Work well.

It appears imageshack is no longer downsizing a lot of my early photos to a decent size for viewing in a browser.

When I get some time, I'll redo all the pics and use picassa so this thread works better. My apologies.

Finished trimming the hatch this weekend.

Image

I used an adjustable inside corner bead, http://www.trim-tex.com/product_catalog.php?cat_display=showproduct&id=125 to make a splayed angle cover for the frp, after cutting off most of the mud flanges.

Image

Image

Then I added a piece of aluminum flat bar across the bottom to cover and protect the bottom seam.

Image

This is how the aluminum 1"x1" angle I used at the edges is attached. Locktite PL heavy duty and lath screws. After attaching the screws, I would then remove them and grind them down so they didn't extend farther than the plywood, so they wouldn't interfere with the fit.

Nice job! I really like that shade of green. I used FRP to cover my roof as well.

Covered the removable galley counter with some vinyl tile from Lowes, the 50 cent per piece variety.

Image

Then I added what I call "Nouveau Redneck" cabinetry.

Got my two windows from lilbear. Installing them next, then the only major thing left is the dreaded door.

Cut opening on drivers side and friction fit window. Off to Lowe's in the morning to pick up some 1x3 to trim the inside of the opening.

Then it will be time to begin on...Dum dum dum.... The DREADED DOOR.

Definately needed the 1x3 trim to give the screws something to grab into. 1/2" plywood doesn't cut it.

I'm getting finished this weekend dadgummit.

Started putting a 2" rip of 1/4" ply around the inside of the door opening to make a space for the weatherseal, before I make a ledge out of 1x3's.
