well..... it would have been a HELL of a lot easier if I had done it before I bolted the trailer together...

Now I can't get an angle on it with my reciprocating saw. Maybe I'll try a cutoff wheel instead.

Well, had to help move my son this weekend so didn't have the time I wanted, but managed to get the floor sides coated.

Used rustoleum undercoating.

Cut my first radius last night.

Image

Had some "in and out" on the lower section, but got my technique down for the longer upper ellipse. Now to lay this piece on top of the other side and transfer the curve.

Gentlemen, we have PROFILE! Now I feel like I'm actually accomplishing something.

Transferring profile to 2nd side piece.

First look at the full size deal.

Next up, cross pieces and door.

Got the rear galley wall perimeter framed and a couple of front cross pieces in today. Will be going with 8" on centers through the radiused area.

Got the majority of the crossmembers done, and started bending the roof ply to shape. I strapped it and bent it a little, then waited a few hours to allow the fibers to stretch, and tightened again. Tomorrow I will attach it permanent. Using 5mm underlayment from HD.

Got the door cut out, used the dimensions of an aftermarket door,http://bit.ly/13ASmA4 just in case I can't get a home built door to work, then I can just throw money at the problem to make it go away.

And before you ask, no, I'm not doing an interior ceiling. I might at some point put some coroplast or even a reed rollup window shade ceiling but for now, I'll just enjoy the woodgrain and do some sort of varnish.

O.K. Mike, you happy??

Image :D

Got 1/2 of the curved sheet of 5 mm glued down today, and chopped off the offending caster flange on the trailer. Will finish the gluing of the rest of the sheet tomorrow morning and maybe do a little priming.

Once the late July and August heat arrives in D/FW it's impossible to work more than 30 or 40 minutes in the garage, so my goal till September is to just do one thing each day. Today I just installed the last crossmember. Yesterday I installed two skin panels. The day before I glued down the front radius skin.

One day at a time.

Chugging along, KC. Added two new crossmembers. These are to give blocking for shelving in back wall.

I'm thinking of renaming this the "Kreg Special" since I must have a least a jillion kreg connections at this point.

Experienced my first "built something in the basement and can't get it out" moment today. Had to take the top piece of blocking out in order to get the inside sheathing of the backwall into the trailer. DOH!

Was planning on doing all sorts of things this morning, but all I managed to do before it got too hot was finish the frp in the galley.

Image

I'm planning on using this channel to cap the top of the wall at the hatch area.

Image

It's an aluminum channel used in installing stretchwall fabric. Came out of the extra bin in our warehouse. Worked out perfect for a 1/2" wall with a layer of frp.
