Vardo build 1st build

Postby stonykill » Sat Jun 22, 2013 5:43 pm

started our Vardo today. Just sanded and painted the trailer frame and picked up some materials. Going to get a little more done tomorrow. Attached is a pic of the general idea of what we are going for. Going to be campable, not done but campable this summer.

I'll get up pics of our progress as we go along

That should have a lot of opportunity for adding character.

You're moving right along. Nice to have the first box built, isn't it? I love it when something I'm working on starts to take on some shape.

thanks and yes it is. Tomorrow when I'm out I am going to pick up the lumber to make the corbels. Then I can get working on the top.

Ohhh....build faster. I am so anxious to see this one. I just love Vardos. Unfortunately my husband does not share my love of them, so I have to live vicariously through the Vardos of others.

 I want to just build this and do nothing else. Unfortunately I can't do that, but I can work on it some nearly daily.

slow progress the last 2 days. Yesterday I was away from home nearly all day, the it rained and today it rained as soon as I was ready to start on the Vardo. But I got the template made for the arch (not pictured), got 19 corbels made and sanded, made misc wood pieces, and the windows came in just now. Looking forward to spending some quality time over the next 3 or 4 days on the Vardo and chasing down materials.

and on Tuesday I should have help putting up my red neck workshop addition. A 12 x 20 foot portable garage to attach to my woodshop. That will end the rain issue :D

Do the windows have safety glass in them ?

That's a detail that's easy to forget about if you use
shed or house type windows...
