Hi: Great looking start. In the photo, is your floor frame already bolted down? More important, did you ever discover what the wedge shaped parts were? Mike

I went to finish sanding the remainder of the primer on the pre-primed plywood for my floor so that I could begon applying the CPES. I found that the top layer had begun to delaminate with the muggy weather over the last couple days. Should I continue with this plywood or get more?

I decided to just replace the boards since I was still at a beginning stage. I bought 2 4x8 sheets of cabinet grade plywood and had them cut at the store to 5'. Here I am applying 3 coats of CPES to seal them.

Hey Tommy, you already stumbled across my new build, but yup, the X-3 is underway!

I was just looking at your pictures, and those two galvanized "wedge" pieces that you were concerned about are actually the fender mounts for the "squarish" fenders that come with all the other trailer kits. It seems that all the Changzhou Nanxiashu trailer kits (both Harbor Freight & Northern Tool trailer kits) share a lot of the same hardware including the lighting. If I recall, those galvanized brackets are in the lighting box, so they must automatically get supplied with all trailer kits, regardless of whether or not they get used.

Nice start by the way! Sucks about the plywood delaminating. Cant wait for more pics!

Applying Zinsser oil-based primer to seal the plywood before painting on the roofing asphalt. This will prevent any possible delamination from the asphalt compound.

Roofing Asphalt Compound applied to bottom side of floor for waterproofing.
Image

Using these fanged washers to allow me to tighten the carriage bolts that secure the floor to the trailer frame.
Image

Carriage bolt and fanged washer.
Image

Driving the fanged washer into the plywood floor.
Image

The hole in the floor was recessed to allow the carriage bolt to sink below the level of the floor. I will use the stop nuts to tighten it down. Later I will fill in the recessed area with wood filler and sand smooth, then cover with vinyl flooring.
Image

I see many who have built there own teardrop campers anchor the side walls intothe wood fram below the floor. I think I'm going to drill recessed holes in the side walls like I did in the floor and use heavy carriage bolts to secure the walls to the sidewall of the trailer frame.
Image

I cut out the sidewall profile of my teardrop to see what it will actually look like. I got a rock trapped between the 2 sheets of MDO and it gouged the surfae of one sheet. Noting a little CPES and some wood filler can't fix.

The walls are clamped together, and now the edges need to be evened out.
Image

The belt sander was taking too much time, so I broke out the electric planer to get things started, then finished up with the belt sander. Just as I was finishing up with the wall edges, the UPS truck showed up with mt doors from Vintage Technologies! This gave me a few more hours of energy and more to do
Image

I couldn't resist putting the door in position to get a better mental image. Man I can't wait to finish this project. 8)
Image

I used the retainer ring for my doors to trace the outline for the door holes, then used my circular saw the plunge cut the straight lines and a jigsaw to cut the curved corners. It took me a few minutes to realize I needed the trace the outside of the ring that has the screw holes, but I got the holes cute and the doors fit fine. Now to put the doors away for a while until I'm ready to mount them.
Image

One of my fellow scout leaders Adrian Fortier came over to give me hand mounting the walls. Later, I went out and marked the position of my cabinets. Time to break out the caulking for the floor to wall seams.

LOVE this thing.
Image

Dry fit of the door now that the walls are up. I used the lag bolts to attach the walls to the trailer frame as well as using screws through the wall to the wood frame under the floor.
Image

Installing spars.
Image

Dry fit of the Fan-Tastic Fan.

Image

Roof Spars up, time to sit back and think of the next step.

Smaller blocks between the spars to help the ceiling follow the curves.
