todo list
-----------
Finish fuse box and terminals for battery
buy battery
Tweak hatch fit and weather seal hatch (weather stripping)
install pull down latches

and PICS!

And fenders?
But that looks very good. Nicely coming together as a whole. I love it!~

Fuse box is all wired up, battery installed and charger attached. Last night before going to bed I saw the battery hit absorption level just as I headed outta the garage.

Also got a coat of paint on the underside of the hatch where I will be putting the weather stripping. Reserving a camp site for sunday night, and taking Monday off work to bring the kiddos out for a shake down/test run

Not going to call it done, yet... but how about "Serviceable"

Took it for an overnight with the kids, had to leave early due to the horrendous summer storm that scared the little one something fierce though. Retry wednesday!

Re: Smiles to go! Electrical information

Postby booyah » Wed Aug 12, 2015 1:41 pm

So I wanted to include a few things that I really liked during my build. I didn't see many good references to things like this when I was doing my research so here goes, hopefully it helps someone out

Light switches
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002UC13NE
These things are very nice, I have three individual light switches, each has a nice bezel and mounts about 3/4" deep with connectors on the switches.

Lights
Interior LED lights
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AQKC7LO
One of these lights up the Benroy very nicely, at least with the interior painted light colors (light blue and white). Has a switch on it, but I wanted to wire to main switch. I used two, one per side

Porch LED light
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EZY337E
Comes with clear and amber lens, uses an O ring around the mount to keep it water tight. Has a switch on it, but I wanted to wire to main switch so I could turn it on/off from inside. IE "is that a bear I hear outside?" click "yes, yes it is" click. Nice to not have to open the door to check things like that :o

12v and USB power adapter
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003YJ8TVQ
Not as nice as I wanted, it has the standard car 12v adapter I cut off and wired up again. Works, but the 2.1a USB only gives 2.1 amps if you don't use the other USB port as well. Worked well though, has a dim blue LED that shines out so you know it has power. I wired this into my switch as well so I could turn it off to conserve power when not in use.

Exterior power hookup
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009ANV81S
I like this. Its cheap ($14) and has a nice rubber gasket. I installed this in my tongue box, and it has a short (8-12") 110 cord inside that you can plug a normal cord into (female end of ext cord). One of the cheaper ones I could find, but very happy with it.

Main Fuse
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002IVEIBG
Picked it up, and it was just long enough to use the cord as my hot terminal off the battery to the fuse box. Crimped on some ring terminals and I was all set to go.

Fuse box with negative bus
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000THQ0CQ
6 circuits, easy to install, easy to setup, no need for a separate negative bus! Ring type terminals connect positive and negative to the battery, and this will run my entire teardrop otherwise. Both lights on one side on a given circuit (fused 5a) each 12v and USB chargers on a separate circuit (fused 15a) ceiling fan on one circuit (fused 5a) and the galley power on the last one (fused 15a)

Battery Charger
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002DU3S9A
Seems to work well at least on the little group 24 battery I chose to use. This is currently the only 110 power in my camper.

Battery box
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EOX2QJC
What can I say? Its a box, I put a battery in it. I bolted this to the frame directly with two bolts, fender washers, and lock nuts, but yeah otherwise, its a box.
